You may have seen the announcement that Joomla 3.2 is now available and from the looks of the feature list, it looks like it's an excellent update to an already great version.

If you are using T3 and Zentools then you need to update to the latest versions of T3 and zentools for a few key compatibility fixes in the plugin and the module. You can grab the updates from the links below.

T3 Plugin Zentools

What's new in Joomla 3.2

You can find the official announcement of Joomla 3.2 on the main Joomla.org site. In a nutshell the update adds the following key features:

  • Content version control
  • User interface tweaks - I like the much improved and discrete display of settings
  • Install from web - an app store like extension installer in the Joomla admin.
  • Easier multi-language setup
  • Two factor login authentication
  • Rapid development framework for extension development.

We will be taking a more in-depth look at these new features in the How to Joomla series over the next few weeks. In the meantime please ensure that you update T3 and Zentools before updating to Joomla 3.2.

A small update on progress for Zentools v2

Zentools

Although progress on zentools v2 is coming along slower than we like I thought I would give you a small update on how it's shaping up.

A complete rewrite

Zentools v2 is a complete rewrite and has been rebuilt with a completely new architecture. Zentools v2 is more like a mini framework now and uses it's own plugin system which allows users and developers to easily add new content sources and layouts.

Zentools plugins are installed separately and can be installed, published and unpublished separately. This adds an incredible amount of flexibility to the module allowing us to more easily add new layouts and functionality.

You can now mix streams

One of the other key features of the update is that it's now possible to combine content sources. So in one module you will be able to output items from Joomla, K2 and even images sourced form a folder. When we add new content sources you will be able to add those content sources as well.

New layout control panel

The layout panel has also been improved, giving you more visual control over columns and grid elements in the zentools template. Creating multi-column items in zentools is now super easy.

Beta will be available soon

I know I've said this before but I'm hoping to take the package out of alpha and move to a beta release in the next few weeks. If you are interested in testing out the new version please get in contact either in the comments here, on the forum or via the contact form and we will set up a testing area for you.
