Getting to know the Joomla Bamboo Themes

Hi folks, my name is Barbara Rudlin and I have been very kindly asked by Anthony to join the team here at Joomlabamboo as resident blogger. I have been working with Anthony for the past couple of years, using the templates and extensions, which I have enjoyed immensely. So I thought that before I start writing about web design, joomla, seo, freelancing and everything else  I would get to know the themes a little better and so I asked the team which were their favourite Joomla templates from the catalogue and why.

With over 46 templates on offer what can we tempt you with? Since the launch of Joomlabamboo way back in 2006 we have created a wide range of pretty spectacular templates. Simple, clean lines and elegance come as standard with all our work.

Joomlabamboo has created templates for online shops, magazine style, portfolio sites and of course blogs. With the latest introduction of a template for the Admin section of your site, we are continuing to simplify the Joomla experience, both for you and your clients.

The Simpla template changes the way that you interact with your favourite content management system. The first thing you will notice about the Simpla admin theme is the use of the sidebar accordion menu used in addition to the traditional top suckerfish Joomla menu. The accordion menu is a beautiful sliding menu that opens and closes, highlights the active menu state and delivers a more user-friendly menu system to the Joomla admin.

Our thoughts on the Joomlabamboo templates to date:

bliss

Barbara

My personal favorite is Bliss a beautiful and elegant personal blog site. With 7 colour schemes built in and only a few module positions this is perfect for a beginner to use as a window to the world. But you don’t want to hear from just me, what do the other members of the team think?

grid

Anthony

For me I really like Grid - the texture and the shadow on the edge really draw me in and I keep saying when I see members who use that theme - wow did I design that lol.

{jb_line}{/jb_line} sketch

Jeremy

I personally invested a lot of time with Sketch when it was released, did a lot of coding for it, but its really close to my style and interest, something that has some grunge to it but is still clean and crisp.

Jason

After supporting the templates I have a special spot for Grid since I've updated that a lot and the template code base seems to have matured a lot with all the feedback and usage that Grid saw. Wait for Grid to be reworked and released. Woodflower is nice too

Seth

It was Grid, but is now, without a shadow of a doubt the Zen framework, on account of its unparalleled flexibility, 'tis all things to all men (and women of course!). Sketch has a special attraction for me too.

{jb_line}{/jb_line} scroller

Ed

I have two all time favorite JB templates. Grid and Scroller. Scroller was the 'very' first Joomla template that made me stand up and say... OMG you can do that with Mambo/Joomla! The moment I saw Grid it was love at first sight. I've used Grid on four/five production sites and they all look different, unique and totally different.

{jb_line}{/jb_line} Club Member favorites, based on downloads, are:
  • Grid (July 2009)
  • Elevate (March 2009)
  • Organica (February 2009)
  • Elevate 2 (July 2009)
  • Praise (August 2009)

Any specific requests/suggestions for a new club template are always welcome. Also we are interested in where and how you have implemented our templates. We will be featuring new sites using the Joomlabamboo templates in future posts.
