Removing module positions/making a slideshow/adding modules in Zenbase

zentoolsIf you use Zentools please post a review at the Joomla! Extensions Directory.

Hello,

I've just started using Joomla and the Zenbase template (really don't understand what the tools, kit, etc are!) and am having trouble... Please could you help me with a few problems?

This is what I have started: ams25.siteground.eu/~daybrea2/

I would like to remove the header position at the top so that I don't have that white space- can't figure out how to do this?

Do you know why my slideshow looks weird? The text is in the wrong place. I want it to be overlay theme.

And I also would like 3 articles with an image and 'read more' link just like in the preview template: demo.joomlabamboo.com/index.php?theme=zenbase. But the info would be the same as in the 'Hexham/Consett/Newcastle' part of our website- would I have to create some kind of alias link?

Thank you!

A few questions going on here :)

Banner wise - check you have given the banner area the full width in the responsive layout section - looks like just half width

Regarding whitespace - it is possible to remove whitespace by adjusting the css

Are you familiar with css and using the custom.css file?

Regarding the last point - they are a zentool module loading article content

Are you able to install a members quickstart version of the site to reference the module and content settings? - this contains the demo site so it good to see how things are set up and organised

Cheers

Hi,

Thanks for your reply.

Sorry I was trying to add the CMC mailchimp module to the side of the slideshow but can't. I've added a module position there but can't give it a name? It currently says 'position none' when I view the module positions from the template manager. Is it possible to add 3 module positions to the side of the slideshow?

I am not familiar with CSS! :-S Do I need to be?

If I install the Quickstart version I would lost everything wouldn't I?

thank you, so confused :-S

The template only has the one banner position as vast majority of folks use it as 100% width - not sure I've seen anybody ask for this :)

It depends css wise if you want to tweak things on the site we can help you in this but I'd suggest having a little understanding of css will help a lot

If you installed the quickstart over the top of the site then yes you would lose the lot
If possible I'd look to install the quickstart so you can build the site and

I'd check out this thread

www.joomlabamboo.com/index.php?option=com_kunena&view=topic&catid=661&id=110521&Itemid=215

and follow those instructions for renaming the file first

When you have that set up test it by adding this line

#headerwrap .zen-container {padding: 0px;}

it will trim 20px off the top and bottom padding as it overrides the 20px padding value added by the template

Hi, I tried installing a quickstart template but apparently I can't do that. Now trying to add CSS but when I try to change the file name is says "Error
Invalid file name. Please choose a file name containing a-z, A-Z, 0-9, - and _"

A quickstart needs to be installed to an empty folder it can't be installed to an existing version

Just in case this is useful

How are you trying to renamed the file?

It should be fine "custom.css" is the filename it needs to be called for it to work (minus the speechmarks")

Sorry I don't understand any of that- don't think I can do it as I'm using Joomla through my hosting provider... I accidentally changed the css rename file to 'cust.css' but it won't let me change it to 'custom.css'- do you know why?

ah you mean you can only do one click installation?

Are you renaming via ftp or via the hosting panel?

Are you talking about installing the template? Yes that was just 1 click. I tried to do it on a cloned page but it didn't appear in the template manager- I don't know how else to do it.

Via the hosting panel

ok perhaps leave the quickstart issue to one side

Renaming - Yes I don't see why that won't work when you try to rename

The file has to be called custom.css or it won't work I'm afraid
