Background grid images not loading on ipad

On two nearly identical 1P2 builds, the background images below the fold aren't loading on *actual* ipads. Thoughts? (By which I mean, 'Solutions?')

They load OK on desktop.

Custom (Google) font also not loading on ipad...nor the zen-shortcode icons. Note: this is on an actual ipad (2017, ipad 9.7in) not on the #fakeipad in the browser #fake emulators.

Which icon isn't loading for you?

And what area of the site is the custom font on?

All the h1, h2, h3, h4 - I am seeing a generic serif font, not the script font selected - Kaushan+Script:Latin-extended. Screenshot from desktop.

I don't see any subsets so I'd add instead

Kaushan+Script:400

Does this work?

It does for me locally

I think this varies depending on the font

In this case, I think the font only comes in 400 weight
