Hover on Touch Screens

If I visit the site on iPad or iPhone, no problem with menus, as the collapsed format menu appears and is easily navigable. But if I visit the site on a touch screen device, such as Surface, the hover effects for menu don't work to allow me to select items in sub menus. . Is there a menu setting I am missing, or this just an issue with the way the template is designed.

Can I just clarify are we referring only to Surface or Surface and different devices?

Hi Paul,

I noticed it on Surface, but when I unpublished a couple of menu items so the menu fitted iPad, I had the same issue there as well.

I am looking at not having two level menu, to avoid these issues, as I understand there are end user work arounds, but I don't want to discourage anyone, unless you have some advice.

I have reinstated three level menu on the test site. I have tested again, and yes the issue appears only to be with Surface. I either got confused but on iPad, the sub menus come up and stay on screen and you can either hit the original entry or a sub menu entry. However, the "photo-corners" which indicate there are sub menu entries are misplaced.

You can use the following URL to investigate this and the issue with the placement of social buttons when an entry longer than OPEN is used to open the floating panel.

Note, whilst some content is finalised, much is still being played with to get it right.

Regarding the corners - you mean the triangles marking the drop downs right?

If so can you try adding

#menu ul ul > li a:before, #menu ul ul > li.parent .zen-menu-heading:before {top:0;}

That's correct, as I said, my earlier testing on iPad seemed wrong. I think Safari must have specific handling for this situation.

Yes, the triangles was what I was referring to. I will try adding the code.

Paul, the customer support you are offering is excellent, and I have reported some matters, not in a complaining tone. The product overall is really superior.

Thanks for your kind words.

And thanks for spotting these issues.

I've attached another fix for the menu carets on sub menu items.

The file needs to be uploaded to less/menu.less and you need to recompile less to css int he template admin after adding.
This will be included in the next release.
