Quickstart Package Installation

zentoolsIf you use Zentools please post a review at the Joomla! Extensions Directory.

Hi,
I've followed the instructions in your 'How to install a Joomla 3 quickstart package' guide (Option 1. cPanel data upload), and extracted the quickstart file.

It seems the next step is 'The Joomla 3+ Installation process'. However this instructs to 'enter the url path to the folder that contains the extracted and uploaded quickstart package'.

How do I determine the url path? What is the format of the url?

Regards

Hi,

I'm not sure what you mean when you say you've never seen it. I'm referring to JoomlaBamboo documentation.

The hosting is with GoDadding using Linux.

The quickstart package files have been extracted to ...public_html/ResponsiveQ

Hi Rogellio,
So you would need to point your browser to:

yoursite.com/ResponsiveQ

Whats the url or domain of the server you installed it to?
Thanks

Hi,

As you probably realised I meant to write 'GoDaddy' :)

I've figured out the url with help from GoDaddy. ReponsiveQ is the document root for a subdomain created for installing the quickstart package onto. The appropriate url is therefore responsiveq.primarydomainname. This displays the initial Joomla install screen as per the screenshot in the JoomlaBamboo guide.

However after competing the Configuration and Database tabs and selecting 'Next' a message is displayed stating "Could not connect to the database. Connector returned number: Could not connect to MySQL"

I'm using the default database type (MySQLi) and the default hostname (localhost).

The subdomain is ResponsiveQ but I specified the site name as 'ResponsiveQ Demo Site'. Does that make any difference?

Any ideas why the 'Could not connect to MySQL' message is being displayed?

Thanks

I'd check these are correct -

database user, database password and database name

Ok. I eventually figured out that I should've first created a MySQL database, which I've now done through the MySQL database wizard in cPanel.

This step is completely missing from your guide 'How to install a Joomla 3 quickstart package'
