Slideshow not working properl

zentoolsIf you use Zentools please post a review at the Joomla! Extensions Directory.

Hi - I'm getting strange results from the zentools slideshow, and I can see this error in Firefox console: ReferenceError: jQuery is not defined. zentools.js (line 10, col 1)

Joomla 4.3.1 and the page I'm looking at is here:
www.bizzybounce.co.uk/newsite/index.php/jungle-fun

Has anyone any idea where I'm going wrong?

Thanks

Ian

Hi Ian,

Can I suggest you reduce the file size of the cloud image

Hi Paul - thanks for getting back to me.

The clouds are a bit big. I've disabled them temporarily, but it makes no difference to the slideshow…

I need the clouds to be a transparent .png 24. I've saved it out of photoshop optimised for the web - I don't know how to make it any smaller, other than dropping the dpi. Any thoughts?

And any further thoughts on the slideshow?

Thanks

Ian

Hi Paul I'm having (another) one of those days.
I've found SuperPNG to reduce the size of the clouds file - which works OK and has brought the size down by about 30%.
But now I can't find the original anywhere on the site. I've done a file search with Filezilla and deleted all items, even a couple in the zentools cache in the media directory, but the clouds are still there on the front end. Cache is disabled in global config.
What am I missing?
Thanks

Sorry didn't mean to confuse you the image file size was to big

I use tinypng.com/ - the background image doesn't affect the zentools module

the image path is

background: url(/images/clouds.png) no-repeat top center, -webkit-linear-gradient(top, #2941a5, #5b88dd, #FFF 30%);

Are you using a hosting company that has server caching via the cpanel e.g. siteground does this

Cheers

The reason the slideshow isn't loading is the zentools script loads before jquery which causes the error

Uncaught ReferenceError: jQuery is not defined

Try seeing if loading jquery in the module works

Hmmm

Tried loading the query in the module - it didn't help.

Confused

Hi Paul

www.bizzybounce.co.uk/newsite/images/clouds.png gives a 404 so it must be caching issue. I'm not sure of the settings on this server, but I've got lots of sites here, and never had this problem before.
I'll have another look tomorrow. This one seems to be giving me even more headaches than usual.

Thanks for your help,

Hi Paul - any thoughts today on the jQuery issue, or why the clouds are still showing even though I've deleted them?
Thanks

I just get sillier. I've dropped it into the root - not /newsite/ - without realising it.

Thanks for pointing it out Paul.

Have I been equally silly with the jQuery?

Best wishes

Hi Ian,

I need to ask that one to either Rob or Anthony to best see how to re-order the load order of jquery

Jqueryeasy component will fix it but I think there will be an easier solution - will get back to you this evening

Hi Ian,

With the module is it currently still set to load jquery?
If it isn't can you turn it back on in the module so we can see what happens

Hi Ian,

You would just need jquery running on one zentool module via its module settings

Hi Paul
Thanks for getting back to me.
I've turned 'load jQuery' to yes on this one. As far as I'm aware it's the only place where it is turned to yes.
Don't tell me off about all the inline styling on this site - I've been pasting text from an existing site, and I haven't yet got round to styling it properly :-)
Thanks
