I want to create a page that is laid out in the fashion of a two column x four row table, each row in the first column to have an embedded Youtube video and each row in the second column will have some text which relates to the corresponding video.

That is what I want to achieve, problem is I haven’t a clue as to how to go about it! Please could you advise?

First of all using a table would be problematic as they don't handle being responsive very well

I would suggest checking out the shortcode syntax and see if that might do the job

Using that you can divide up space into columns without having a table

Thanks for the advice Paul. A shortcode grid is just what I needed. I just copied the "empty two column grid" and filled in my own details. It works perfectly.
