LifeStyle 2 - Browser Compatibility

zentoolsIf you use Zentools please post a review at the Joomla! Extensions Directory.

I have only edited the custom.css file.

I started with a fresh install of Joomla, installed the blank template and extensions.

Maybe it is the fact that I am using the Top modules to publish the logos?

I altered the height (and then changed that to padding) of the logo wrap because the top modules did not auto size or expand enough to display the logo.

I did check today on IE 11 and the white space is even larger with padding instead of height and was the same if not worse when I applied margin.

Thanks Paul!!

If you remove top3 from displaying - does that resolve the issue in those browsers?

I'll check in the morning and let you know.

If that doesn't work I'm going to do additional tests.

- install the quickstart and manipulate it to have a similar configuration
- install another blank instance and do a simple config to simulate the site

I did install a quickstart to test but looking at that table there is extra rows hiding in Chrome so worth a punt to see if that is the issue

The symptoms disappear when I don't have anything published to a Top module, or if i do publish something to a top module, if I don't manipulate the height of module the symptoms are not present.

So, how can I properly adjust the size(height) of the top modules and not cause these issues in IE or Firefox?

I need the top to auto expand with the content published or be able to alter via custom css and not have this issue.

Hi

Don't think auto expand is an option as it uses a height value

I've done a rough example of what I'd do at

Using 3 top positions as custom html with very sloppy resized images

and using the css

#logowrap {height:120px;}
#logowrap p {margin:0;}

#top4 p {
text-align: right;

}

#top4 img {
text-align: right;
display: inline-block;
}

Thanks Paul. I'll give it a go.

Checked your example and the only odd behavior in all browsers was the Menu bar didn't stick when I scrolled down.

I'm also going to try to put a very tiny transparent image to the logo module just to see if that has some influence in all of this.

Yes you're right there

It is quite possible I broke the sticky yesterday using this to test something else

I've not done anything with regard to changing any setting apart from adding the modules

Ok. I did another fresh install of the latest template. I do not get the same issue.

It must be that the issue existed with the initial template version and even after I updated it, the issue remained. Not sure why.

Frustrating because now I need to completely rebuild.

Also, quick question....the sticky nav didn't work until I published something to the banner module? Even though it was enabled.

Thanks Paul for all your help. Learned alot on this one.

What I'm not sure about is why even after updating ( I installed the update over the top of the older template version)....it still didn't work. I even deleted the templates and reinstalled. Same thing.

Thanks again!

Can I Just clarify what isn't working

Is it the sticky navigation and an issue with the top positions?

Everything is working Paul.

It was more of a comment.

When I did a blank template install, the sticky nav didn't work until I published something to the banner position. Wierd.

Anyways, the latest Joomla install, the latest blank template, and the T3 2.4.7 plugin seems to work now.

When I reported this issue I had one of the earlier versions of the blank template installed. Even after updating the template and plugin, the issue remained.

It appears so. I'm in the middle of a complete rebuild on a new installation.

I hope this doesn't come back!

It concerns me though that updating the template to the new version didn't fix the issue.
Only a fresh install of the latest did.

Thanks for all your help Paul. Really appreciate it.

Ok...it's back !!!

White space separating the banner and nav.

But this time I know what caused it....just don't know why.

It happened when I added my first sub menu item.

Funny thing is even when I remove the sub menus the white space stays now.

It was not present with just menu headings and no sub menus.

I'm living with it for now and will open a ticket with you guys.

Thanks Paul!!
