I just became member and tried to install the lifestyle2 quick starter and got this error: Fatal error: Call to undefined function mb_strlen() in /home/churchtest/public_html/breakthrough/modules/mod_zentools/includes/zentoolshelper.php on line 62

I had thought that function was common to all recent versions of PHP.

Which version of PHP are you using? Can you check with your host to see if it's enabled?

Just to clarify its "multibyte string" php library you need to check/install with your host

The version is PHP 5.4

The php module 'multibyte string' is not installed.

Is the php multibyte string library installed?

ah ok you need to ask your host to enable this

It will cause many extensions including zentools to error out as above

Yes I have it installed and the template runs. Only thing is I get now error messages on some pages: On the lifestyle2 template under the menu item>features>module styles>popover style:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function imagecreatefromjpeg() in /home/churchtest/public_html/breakthrough/modules/mod_zentools/includes/imageresize.php on line 76

same error on some other links under module styles.

I hope this is not going to be a continued story..such a start I did not expect.

Can you check if you have the php GD library installed on the hosting account?

If it missing the php GD library - again a lot of extensions will throw an error when required to work with images
