Module height

zentoolsIf you use Zentools please post a review at the Joomla! Extensions Directory.

Hello,
I just started with Base3 template. I've managed to understand how you can define the number of columns per row and the respective width.
But how do you define the height of the modules?
Suppose I want a sideber on the right common to all other modules, how can I achieve that?
Thanks!

Hi

I'm not quite following what you are wanting to do - can you elaborate a bit?

You wouldn't really want to set a height value as that would break on different devices or widths - you could use min-height

In the attached file you may see what I mean.
If I delete grid14 and add modules to sidebar-1, how do I manage to have grid13 below main content with the same width as main content?

Can you re-attach the image - try using Chrome if you are having issues

Grid13 will be on a different row so it will always be below the content area row

You would alter the width to be the same as the main although it would probably work better if you made the grid13 full width

Hello,

In the home page, if main content isn't displayed, sidebar-1 isn't displayed also, correct?
This means if I want to have a banner on sidebar-1 at the right of every item I must create a similar module for position grid14 for the Home Page only.

Yes that is correct the content area is based about the main content / component section

Can't you use a normal grid position?

I'd like to have the same banner at the right of the page, wether the page has main content or not.

I'm not quite following can you not use a grid position?

Rows can't move up to a different row above - other wise everything would break

It would a case of an empty position and then publish the banner to that remaining space

I'm struggling to understand the bar on the right. Perhaps I can explain you what I want to do so you see what I mean:

1- The banners on the right of the home page (www.portal-gestao.com/) are gone once you open an item (ex: www.portal-gestao.com/gestao/empreendedorismo/item/7467-15-regras-de-gest%C3%A3o-por-estee-lauder.html) although they are assigned to that page.
2 -The width of the main content of the home page should be the same as the module above
3- On mobile phones, the banners should be positioned below the main body (not on the right).

In other words, I want to put all these banners in a module in position sidebar-1, assign the module to all pages and forget about them :-)
Is this possible?

Thanks in advance for your support!

1. Are you using the same template style for home page and other pages? - have you checked the layout tab to see positions are enabled?
2. This may also be the same problem as point 1

3. Have you changed the widths for different devices in the layout tab so its full width e.g. the grid position drops below the other positions

Hopefully this helps - I'm still a little bit unclear

I'm now thinking you may want to duplicate modules so published to the sidebar positions

Hello,
I'm using the same style for the whole site.

Please look at the banners for the home page: www.portal-gestao.com/
And the same banners for a secondary page like: www.portal-gestao.com/artigos/gestao.html

And please let me know if this makes any sense.

Duplicating or triplicating the modules would solve the problem (I guess) but that's exactly what I want to avoid. This site has thousands of pages and I don't want high-maintenance when a banner changes.

Is essence you want to publish modules both to a grid position and a sidebar at the same time - is this correct?

This isn't possible using Joomla normally

What has been suggested to me is using loadposition so you have a module loading inside a module so the loadposition modules are loaded into two different custom html modules

You would probably need to click the prepare content button

Yes, I want sidebars similar to what I had in Yootheme's templates, like:

yootheme.JPG

It doesn't make sense to duplicate modules. I've used Yootheme's templates for years in various sites and I guess I took some of their features for granted.

This is a critical issue. Are you sure this isn't possible to do with JB templates?

Hi,

Base3 has the positions 'abovecontent' and 'belowcontent' which act in the same way as the 'main-top' and 'main-bottom' positions in the warp framework.

If you add modules to these positions then the sidebars will expand the the height of the main column and those 2 positions.

Rob

Ok, and what's the name of the sidebar position?
I'm currently using grid10 for the banners but they're on top of above content. See www.portal-gestao.com

The sidebars are defaultly named sidebar-1 and sidebar-2 but these can be changed in the layout screen.

The template contains multiple layouts 'leftsidebar', 'two-left-sidebars', 'two-main-right', 'two-right-sidebars' etc that you can select at the top of the layout screen.
