I put the Smart Search module in place of the regular Search module but the layout no longer is right.

Is there something in Base3 that will not work with the Smart Search module?

As a comparison I have both search modules assigned to this page:

For now I'm just forcing it to be usable with this:

#search .icon-search {
position: inherit;
margin-left: 0;
line-height: inherit;
}

I just found the Base3 override:
templates/base3/html/mod_search/default.php

How do I get the smart search module to also use this view?

It doesn't look exactly like the stock com_search

but with the css I posted here earlier, I was able to get com_finder (ie smart search) to look ok.
