The only difference I saw was:

if (version_compare(PHP_VERSION, '5.3.1', '<'))
{
die('Your host needs to use PHP 5.3.1 or higher to run this version of Joomla!');

Yours is 5.3.10 and mine says 5.3.1

Ok, so that's just from a version of Joomla lower than 3.3 but it sounds like your index file is correct.

You will need to check with your host to see what the errors actually are or check your error logs in your hosting panel.

Rob

Hi,

I deleted the first uploaded folder and I started from scratch. Backup with Akeeba, then upload with FileZila, then extraction with kickstart and everthing went very smoothly this time, without error messages. I did this whole thing in a subfolder though (joomla), because I'm keeping my good old html website online. So it looks like this:
www.alinamn.com/joomla/index.php

But when I go to this url nothing happens!!! I still need your help, and I think my hosting server's support team is not competent enough to help me.

Thanks,

Alina

You need to talk to the host on this as you have the content here
www.alinamn.com/joomla/index.php

are the contents still in this folder?

Yes, the joomla site is in the "joomla" folder on the public_html folder of the server.

I have htaccess.txt in the directory and not .htaccess. Could that cause a problem?

It's Green.ch (Switzerland) and they switched me to a "better" server called genotec.ch

You need to ask the host how best to access the files you installed and set up as the root folder of the site

I'm assuming you can't access the site via the browser either?

Hi Paul,
No, when I put alinamn.com/joomla, it goes back to alinamn.com/index.php and it doesn't work, there's no index.php in the root folder.

Thanks for your help.

Right so you need to ask the host why this is and how best to switch it round so the joomla folder acts as the root directory
