T3 Error when updating Plugin and Template under J3.7

zentoolsIf you use Zentools please post a review at the Joomla! Extensions Directory.

Hello. We updated our site to J3.7 today with no problems.

We were prompted to update T3 plugin and template. This we did.

Now we get an error when we view the site:

Notice: Undefined index: media in /var/www/html/nmjpec.org/public_html/plugins/system/t3/includes/core/minify.php on line 260
Notice: Undefined index: media in /var/www/html/nmjpec.org/public_html/plugins/system/t3/includes/core/minify.php on line 272
Notice: Undefined index: media in /var/www/html/nmjpec.org/public_html/plugins/system/t3/includes/core/minify.php on line 440

I can work around for now by turning off Optimize CSS and Optimize JS in the template - but need a fix.

I see other vendors like JoomlaArt are getting reports of this problem.

And I'm thinking T3 forgot to sync / updated the minified versions of their CSS and JS to the latest version?

Unfortunately I just found out that my last backup is no good, so I do hope it is somewhat soon.

A temporary option might be to add

www.jch-optimize.net/downloads.html

together with

www.regularlabs.com/extensions/cachecleaner?extension=cachecleaner

and use these instead of the t3 optimise options

Sounds a bit more serious than that I think

Before I try that - since turning off Optimize CSS and JS in the template seems to squash the error - and there does not seem to be much of a performance hit - is it ok to just leave that until a fix is issued?

it will make the sites a touch slower as more requests to the server

Hence why I suggested jch optimise as that does do the same thing but to use it you really need to read the documentation and backup the site first

It's an extension you need to be careful implementing - I do use it myself on most sites but I would really recommend reading documentation and test test test after each change.

Has T3 acknowledged or issued a fix for this yet?

T3 have acknowledged the issue - unfortunately the Joomla release was problematic in comparison to other variants of the J3.7 release

Unfortunately the problem as far as I know isn't resolved

I have personally spoken to a couple of independent developers not affiliated to any template club and they are suggested as I did above to use jchoptmise pro

So instead of using the inbuild css/js optimise in the template using jchoptimise free version instead

Right. I do understand about using JCOptomise as a workaround. I'm going to stay away from that at this point, as it simply makes the site more complex. I have a less intrusive workaround for now in turning of JS and CSS compression, and the site performance is not that much worse. I also have a bunch of site that use JBB/T3 templates, so need a scalable proper solution as we are not getting paid to fix any of this and it is just more unanticipated work.

Really looking to the T3 to fix this.

It is complicated as I'm assuming a Joomla update must be imminent

There is a new T3 plugin version available from the T3 - I'm slightly confused why it wasn't mentioned on their forum

I have tested it and I have encountered a problem with one of the js optimisation options but switching to Closure compiler works fine for me

I would strongly suggest testing the plugin on a dev site if you have one available and backup in place before updating

I should also add the T3 forum does appear to be currently broken to new comments
