Portal Template Navigation

zentoolsIf you use Zentools please post a review at the Joomla! Extensions Directory.

Hi guys,
I had unsuccessfully looked through the blogs for an answer/fix when using the Portal Template navigation

From the Portal sample, when a user clicks the "Meet the Editors" tab and selects Walter Brown. Clicking on the browser back icon [<] doesn't return to Meet the Editors; instead , it takes me all the way back to the first tab on the line: Featured Posts , and not to the expected previous position: Meet the Editors.

Can somebody please Help?

Thanks,
Jorge

Hi Jorge,

Welcome on board to the forum :)

With the demo site can I just confirm the steps you are taking as it for me is worked as I'd expect it

Are we going from the tab meaning next to popular posts? or via the menu

The browser doesn't understand content as such it just records the page you visited - if you navigate via the menu does it work as you want it to?

Cheers
Paul

Hi Paul,
Thanks for replying so quickly, appreciated.
Yes, the problem if from the tab (menus are ok)
People testing our beta site are getting very disoriented when they try to go back,
please see www,saintedward.net (bêta phase)
Thanks

Hi Jorge,

This is relating to how browsers work rather than a template per se.

A browser follows the browsing history so it can't jump to a page the browser hasn't navigated through

While viewing with the menu the browser has visited that page so the back button works

The tabs are pulling content from other articles but presenting that information on the home page so as far the browser is concerned that is the previous page

I'm not a developer but I don't think this is possible to do

This is how I'd expect the site to work - I would leave it as and explain to the client this is how browsers work.

You could look for a jquery plugin to see if that was possible

The joomla article navigation won't do it for you

So you would need to create a button manually using the template styling

You can see the various button styling options found on the template here

an example not including the link would be

I am a button
