Various Issues

zentoolsIf you use Zentools please post a review at the Joomla! Extensions Directory.

I am certainly struggling to get my head around the various elements of the template, a problem that is certainly my own and not yours. I feel like I'm getting a handle on some things, but questions definitely are coming up.

www.newbrothers.org/j3x/

1) I was playing around with a row image on my Menu section, but now the image will not go away. I have put all the setting back to 'Inherit', not seeing any other way to purge an image once applied. Cleared caches a hundred times. I've even tried using another image, just to see if it would change, but no go...

2) My secondary color is also not applying... similar issue.

3) In my "Find a Discipleship Group" section, I was hoping to use the Maps2 module in the ZenTools2 Carousel. It does not appear to want to cooperate. Any thoughts on making that happen? The Group that has the module applied is the "NBFW" group.

4) My ZenMenu is also not displaying sub levels at all. If I click the main menu item, it will show on the next page, but still out of whack. In this case, the Ministry menu item should have submenus....

Thank you, in advance for any help you can give. I always struggle with this stuff, but try my best before posting. I love the template and look forward to getting the site online.

Sincerely, Doug Gregan

Hi Doug,

Could be a couple of things

But I would disable the jch optimise plugin during development as it will cache files

I'd either disable it completely for now till the site is finished being developer or clear the cache after each template or sie change

This is a useful option

www.regularlabs.com/extensions/cachecleaner

But for me, I would try disabling the plugin completely for now
and then we can see what problems remain

Sorry that I have not been able to respond. I've been away. Thank you very much for your help. I will disable the plugin and get back to you.

OK, so I've got two things I now definitely need help with...

1) I cannot get the ZenMenu to work AT ALL... No idea what to do. The only item I have with submenus is MINISTRY on my site.

2) I was really hoping to use the JBMaps2 within my ZenTools2 Carousel, but it does not appear to work, nor does any other module appear to run inside ZenTools. Can you confirm or assist?

Thank you very much, in advance, for your assistance.

Regards, Doug Gregan

Hi Doug,

What are you wanting the zen menu to display?

Are you looking at menu links, icons, modules etc

2) Not something that has really cropped up before

A map module won't work with zentools2 there are too many scripts and external resources to be loaded

What other modules were you wanting to load?

Cheers

I just want menu links for now. I've got MINISTRY set up as a menu header. I've tried it in various forms and never got the submenus to come up.

As long as I know I shouldn't keep trying to get it to work, I can work around it.

Do you have any recommendations or instruction on how I could make the map images link to a modal module?

With adding links you want them in columns - is that correct?

Can you show me a screenshot of how you have the links structured in the menu?

"Do you have any recommendations or instruction on how I could make the map images link to a modal module?"

You could embed a map into an article and have the image linked directly to it or use zentools2

How many map images are you wanting to display?

Here is the menu structure as it stands. I will look through the documentation and see if I've missed something.

On the maps... I figured I would use JBMaps2 or the other map module. I just don't know how to link to a module in my article. I'm only wanting one map per item in my ZenTools2 layout. Hopefully that makes sense...

And... one more confusion for me. I sincerely appreciate your patience and help.

On my current layout, when I click a link on a blog post title, it does not take me to the actual article, but just refreshes to the same page. Any thoughts...?

ok with the menu it looks like you just want dropdowns to show?

If it is the dropdowns not showing showing check the menu module itself to see if you have sub items set to show

With the maps

There is an inbuilt joomla plugin called loadposition

This works by adding the loadposition syntax to the article like this

{loadposition madeupPosition}

Then in your module, type in the position box madeupPosition
and
assign it to all pages

This will embed the map module into an article

Then you can display the images and point to the map pages via a link

With an article you could use images many different ways to load the articles with the embedded maps
