Hi Joomla Bamboo : )

I am thinking about switching themes on my site and I just wanted to ask a couple of questions as I gather my thoughts about this : )

Firstly- do you have some info that relates to best practices when setting up a new theme...ie: can this be done easily whilst keeping the old theme live?

Secondly a couple of specific questions about the BuildR rows theme I am thinking about switching to:

1. Re: The rows on the homepage of your demo site: What content can populate these rows? I am wondering if I could have 2 columns of text with 2 buttons for example.

2. Re: The demo site's main menu relates to the homepage banners as in a 1 page theme- Is it possible to just display a main menu there instead (ie a menu that relates to articles)?

3. Does this theme offer a pop up subscription box or is this a function that would be fulfilled by a plugin?

Hi Julia,

With a new theme, it depends a little on what template you are moving from and the Joomla version being used

What template are you currently using? and what Joomla version?

1. With the rows - The row contains a container and the content goes in the container

You could populate the container either with two positions or you could use one position and the shortcode syntax to split the one position

2. What particular sub theme are you referring to?

Is it this one - bambootheme.com/showcase/apr16/

or is it a template found under the home dropdown link?

3. No that isn't included in the theme you would need either a plugin or more likely a component for this

No I was looking at the Rows sub theme bambootheme.com/showcase/apr16/home/rows

Just thinking that I would like to populate the containers with Zentools modules and just add a bit of padding around them (so there is a little white strip between the modules)...

Should be pretty easy I imagine : )

Just so you aware - you wouldn't need the rows template to do this - you could do this using any buildr sub theme

Add a background image to a particular row and a margin class

I am on Joomla 3.7.3- Rasa2 1.0 and want to switch over to the BuildR theme...

If it was me I'd always work away from the main site when adding a new template

And then upload the site via akeeba when finished
