Pull down menus not completely showing

zentoolsIf you use Zentools please post a review at the Joomla! Extensions Directory.

I am using the Build.r template with pull down menus. However, some of the pull downs are not showing all of the menu items. Once it fills the screen, it will not scroll down to show the rest of the items.

BTW, I tried a couple of mega menu extensions and they did not work correctly. One provider told me their product was not compatible with Build.r (this may or may not be correct). Any suggestions for a mega menu?

Hi Scott,

Do you have a link for the site?

With pull down menus do you mean drop down menu items?

Yes, drop downs. See the "Entomology" tab

With the mega menu how were you looking to structure the 20 odd items?

Up to 40 items in two columns for the Entomology tab.

I don't think you would be able to make that work with 2 columns in a mega menu - would be too long on screen as with buildr

Buildr does support columns in menu dropdowns but I think for that it would be 4 x columns of 10 each but that would off the parent item as per the demo site

I can do this on Build.r? Where?

Four columns is fine, as long as I can get them all on the page.

Are you able to download and install a quickstart so I have an example you/we can reference?

e.g. many users use a localhost

It will be much easier to explain

docs.joomlabamboo.com/zen-grid-framework-4/menus/Zen-menu-plugin/options

the zen menu depends on the grouping / organising of the menu items

Parent top level menu

1st column
>
Second level Child of parent
>>
Menu links child of second level

>
Second level Child of parent
>>
Menu links child of second level

If you look at bambootheme.com/showcase/apr16/
and the joomla dropdown this has two columns - you would need the same format but with 4 columns

I've not explained how to do this yet as we need to determine if the content can be organised like this

I have organized the "Entomology" drop downs using zen menu. One sub menu is in two columns, one sub menu in three, two sub menus have only one column, and one sub has no colums.

This works well on the large screen, but starts to fall apart on my ipad, and gets even worse on my iphone.

I like the sample at bambootheme.com/showcase/apr16 very much. How can i do that on my website?

On my ipad I can't see the links working

If you change the link type to menu header rather than articles for parent links do you get better results?

are you using the 1.3.2 version?

With the mega menu the links are designed to drop down off the parent top level link rather that off a dropdown as the parent link

Yes, 1.3.2.

I tried changing the Menu item type to "Menu Heading" but that didn't seem to make a difference.

Odd that it doesn't work on your ipad. Works on mine, but doesn't work on phone.

I'd rather do it like in the showcase, bambootheme.com/showcase/apr16. That works well on large screen, ipad, phone. Very slick. Is there documentation for that?

For the demo site the mega menu is off the top level menu link and not a drop down are you planning to change the organisation of the menu?

I have everything now working as desired at this point. I will make some changes later, but think I understand enough to make the drop downs work properly on my site on all platforms. Thank you for your help.

However, I am seeing a different problem. When in responsive mode on an iphone, all works as expected except some extraneous material shows up at the bottom of the display. This only shows up when "Responsive" is selected for my template. I would attach a screen shot, but don't see how to do it.

Hi Scott

Some users prefer to use chrome to attach pics

If you click the reply you should see an attach button for an image file

Hi

I see two issues

1. You have ads which aren't reponsive

2. You have the footer menu set to use a mega menu extension which is causing the toggle to display when it hits its breakpoint

Yes, that's what I get for using someone else's extension ;-)

After dropping the extension, the items come out vertical instead of horizontal. I tried the [space]nav-pills trick, but that didn't help. Ideas? See screen shot below.
