Updating BuildR

Whats the best way for me to update build.r?

Just re install the template?

On a side note, could you tell me what the difference is between the normal template and the quick start?

Thanks

Hi

With the template you would just need to re-install the latest version

If you have css optimisation in the template settings on you would need to turn that off and on again

After installation I'd save in the template

I'd also make sure as with any update there is a backup in place

Cheers

Regarding the differences between a quickstart and a normal installation

A quickstart contains the sample data used on the demo site - it has the template settings and module settings + modules, template and plugins pre-installed

The big thing to remember is the quickstart comes with the Joomla CMS as well so a quickstart can't be installed to an existing Joomla installation

A quickstart has to be installed to an empty folder

Installation wise - with a quickstart it works best if you upload the file and then extract it on the server

and then during the installation process select to install sample data
Installing sample data adds all of the modules, articles, template settings etc

While a standard template would be a blank canvas after install

If new to our templates

I'd suggest running a quickstart alongside the template so you have something to compare against as you go

e.g. a localhost with the quickstart and then the real site on some development server space

No problem

With any big update to a site I'd always do a backup first

Hi Paul,

Of course, I never update anything without backing up.
