component.php is buggy

I encountered a problem with buildr while using iframes with the "modals" plugin. The guy from www.regularlabs.com was investigating and told me:
That's down to an issue with your template that doesn't seem to have a working component.php subtemplate.
You can see the issue when opening the url directly:

jb.kiteboarding-windsurfing-spotguide.com/de/?tmpl=component

Modals will open internal urls in the modal.php subtemplate, to prevent all the module positions (like menus and such) from showing in the modal window.

Can you please review that component.php file so it works reliable or tell me what error I make in using it. Thanks.
