K2 and ZenKit support for Colourshift?

zentoolsIf you use Zentools please post a review at the Joomla! Extensions Directory.

I am playing around with the Colourshift demo on your site and noticed that there is no tab for K2 content. I am wondering if you are going to abandon support for K2 and in particular your ZenKit?

I have a site that uses K2 extensively and do often think of going back to Joomla instead of K2 but it would be a huge undertaking.

Anyhow, if you were no longer going to support K2 (or at least develop for it) then I might decide that now, as I redesign with Colourshift, I might want to also abandon K2.

Thanks for letting me know your intentions regarding K2. My hope in a way is that you will develop for and support it and also support the ZenKit. But, I believe I would understand if you decided not to since they are so slow in getting releases out, etc.. And, they have never been able to provide good support.

Hi Sean,

I'm very sorry I didn't reply to the thread alerting you about the release

Unfortunately we have had a few glitches with the release system so was waiting till it was all fixed this evening

K2 is a problem - we do have zenkit but we don't specifically add styling support for it at the moment

With zenkit you would need to enable bootstrap assets in the template settings

We were holding off doing an update till we saw the next incarnation of k2 but with the delay in its release we have moved on a little

The frequency of forum and tickets dropped about k2 so we have a wait and see policy at the moment

We will update zenkit at some point but we don't have any time frame for this

Cheers

I believe that a lot of people will be migrating away from K2 unfortunately due to their poor communications and inability to provide support. I have always wished they would sell a support package so that they could possibly have more funds to be able to hire people to provide the needed support. But, they have not done this.

Interesting. Thanks for letting me know. The site I am going to move from T3 to ZenGrid5 (will try to use Colourshift) is a site with HUNDREDS of K2 items. Although I am personally a bit frustrated with K2. I actually love the product in some ways though. :-)

So, Is there just one setting to enable Bootstrap assets? Or will I pick and choose which assets to enable?

I will make a copy of my site, install Colourshift and start playing with it.

I have a problem with the converting of K2 to Joomla I think it that my urls will probably all change based on new item IDs. So, that is my big challenge and the main reason keeping K2 would be good.

Thank you, Sean

Hi Sean,

You can pick the bootstrap version and then pick and chose various files needed

Some bits may be missing some styling but not entirely sure what those would be

I should mention it would be bootstrap2 rather than 3 as shown in the pic

Thank you very much for explaining that. I think I may try to use the ZenKit and keep using K2 because the task of moving away from K2 right now would be horrendous.

I will make sure to use Bootstrap version 2 and maybe just turn things on to see what works.

BTW, I am a bit confused about the ZenKit versions because on my site I have the plugin version 2.1.3 but when I go to your download area I find that version 1.0.5 is what is available to download. :-)

I do see a bunch of error messages which you might like to see. I was trying to change the Builde.r Default to use one of the Colourshift2 themes and got error messages at the top of the page. When I turned on Bootstrap I got more errors in the right hand column. I will attach an image to show you.

And here is a another screenshot but with more errors.

I previously had T3 Framework for this site but have removed it.

Hi Sean,

Have you changed any settings? or is this just set as default?

It was at default but it was set to display Rasa2 as default. So, I thought I would use one of the Colourshift2 themes.

I just removed the template and then reinstalled it again to see what would happen.

I then duplicated the theme to create one called Buildr - DrC Default.

I got error messages while it was saving that theme.

I am attaching the error messages here.

I do hope somebody might look at my ticket entitled "UNABLE TO SAVE CHANGES TO BUILD.R COLOURSHIFT2" and let me know what I should do to make sure I can make changes to the Colourshift2 template.

I figure maybe there is a conflict with my other software?

Also, this was a site that previously use T3 framework.

Hi Tomek,

As I said to Sean you can enable bootstrap2 to offer support for zenkit but styling may be needed for certain elements

With k2 I think it will depend on what user feedback we get on users using k2 - our perception at the moment is less people use k2

Also depends a little on what k2 do regarding the next version

I will chat with the team on Monday

Cheers
