creating grids within articles using tags or css

zentoolsIf you use Zentools please post a review at the Joomla! Extensions Directory.

Hey lovely Joomla people,

I know I have used your css/tags for generating grids before in articles. I can see the JCE JB type plugin doesn't include them any more. Your documentation docs.joomlabamboo.com/joomla-extensions/jb-type-documentation says it does do grids, but I don't see the options appear in the editor. It is a little hard for me to understand your guidelines, so please enlighten me. I have been meaning to ask you about this for a long time. I have been using www.responsivegridsystem.com/ from time to time, but I like working with your styles much better. Thanks.
Hope everyone is enjoying their week.
Love
Nya

Hi Nya

The Blankly demo, built from Buildr has some useful information and is intended to be a style guide.

demo.joomlabamboo.com/?theme=blankly

Look under the Style > grid menu item and it has plenty of examples and reference material for setting up grids using JB classes.

There is also a quickstart version you can download, install and study on your own server.

Hope that helps get you started.

Hi Nya,

Thanks Ian

For some more documentation on this

docs.joomlabamboo.com/zen-grid-framework-4/theme/shortcodes/grids

But as Ian said I prefer looking at examples like on blankly :)

Cheers

Thank you, Ian. Just what I needed. I guess your grid info changes from time to time? It'd be good if you guys had a place on your website with info about your css classes and divs that was kept updated and which is fairly easy to find as well (not inside a demo template). :-)

Thanks again.

Hi Nya,

There is quite a bit of content but yes we do need to look at
re-organising it a little

JB Type is replaced by JB shortcodes on all recent templates

Thanks for the feedback :)

Hi Nya

I'm just a simple user....

JB as a small team have a tough job keeping on top of the docs whilst still moving the development forward but do a sound job in my opinion. Personally I liked the idea of a style guide template and thought it was quite forward thinking, however I'm old enough to still mourn the passing of proper printed manuals with software. And still write site specific documentation for our end users to refer to whilst updating content.

For our small office team we use one-note to store and share snippets of code and classes in our development. This gives a central place to store all the stuff that I think I will remember but never do.

A cheatsheet for JB classes/templates may be a nice side project though when time allows.

Regards
Ian
