General Layout Settings…Hide main content on front page.

Why would one want to disable the main content block on the front page.. I see that this option is selected by default in all of my templates

In your documentation it says
“This setting hides all content assigned to the main content, sidebar1, sidebar2, abovecontent and belowcontent positions on the home page of your website.”

I do not understand this. Please explain. Elizabeth Thank you.

Hi Elizabeth,

With a front page sometimes people only want to display modules
and no content area

They could embed modules in an article using loadposition but with this option its easier to set up

No problem

It can get confusing with it on by default but most users seem to prefer it this way
