Best position for slideshow

Hi, I want to use a slideshow in the home. I'm using the quickstart package without modificatons to try this.I tried two positions:- banner: The slide looks well, but has a strange behaviour. If you do a scroll down and then scroll up (using mouse wheel, for example) the top menu "breaks". A picture:
- grid1: The behaviour is ok but the slide don't use the total width of the page.....Could be possible to use the total width of the page?
Any recommendation?
