Login Stay on Same Page

zentoolsIf you use Zentools please post a review at the Joomla! Extensions Directory.

I've been trying to figure out how to get the user to stay on the same page after login without going to Profile Edit first.

I have installed a Gazzetta Quickstart demo site at this address:

gazetta.novasound.com/index.php

I set up a user with credentials if you want to see what I'm talking about.
user: demo
pass: demo

I have set up the same login module on another site with Gazzetta, but it still goes to Profile Edit first.

Anyone know how the JoomlaBamboo team gets this to stay on the same page?

Hi

What are these links pointing to in the module?

"Login Redirection Page"
and
"Logout Redirection Page"

Hi Paul,

They're both set to "Default", which the tool tip says should keep it on the same page.

Furthermore, the Edit Profile page itself does not display properly, but I don't care about that if I can get the module to work as it does on the Gazzetta demo. See pic attached. The text for the page is shoved up against the sidebar on the right.

Thanks!

Are you logging in with the same access level?

Yes. Same access level on both sites.

I've tackled this before. There are many posts on various forums about it with rather complex hacks. Last one I read said something to the effect that this is part of the core code for security reasons. I'm not sure I believe that, and I'm quite curious to know how the JoomlaBamboo folks get around that Edit Profile page.

With your demo site > on the home page I use the login and I stay on the home page and I'm not sent anywhere else

As expected on any other page I stay on the same page

If I try the demo site at bambootheme.com/showcase/aug15/joomla/single-article

I get the same

I can see the edit profile after first creating an account - is this the issue?

I'm still unclear what the problem is as I don't see any difference between your site, my site and the demo site

No. The issue is not the Edit Profile page appearing after creating an account. Rather, the Edit Profile page is presented to the user on my staging site every time they log in.

Did you do a Quickstart install of the theme on your site, installing Joomla and the theme at the same time? If I do that, which I did with the site link above in my original post, the login stays on whatever page the user was on. However, I cannot duplicate that action on a site that did NOT use JB's Quickstart install package.

Standby... It appears to have nothing to do with the Quickstart installations. Let me do some digging around and I'll post an update when I find something.

Thanks. I'm not having much luck. At first, I thought it was something special JB was doing on the Gazetta theme. After further investigation, it appears to be an issue with my site's configuration. I'm going to need to address it before I can use this theme, so I can't give up on it! :)

Thanks for your input though. Your questions got me thinking.

Ha! About 30 seconds before your post came through my email, I got it working! :woohoo:

Not sure what I did differently, just kept starting from scratch creating the Module and the Menu structure on the Gazetta demo. If I figure out exactly what I did, I'll post in case anyone else comes across this.

Thanks again for the push!
