After setting default template main page only shows Author login

zentoolsIf you use Zentools please post a review at the Joomla! Extensions Directory.

Hello:

I am new to Joomla and just purchased the JoomlaBamboo. I downloaded the template, set the template as default. When I go to my site /home/index.php, the only thing I see is Author Login and Back to Top. Can you please point me to the correct doc to set the default template data like the LivePreview setup? From there, I can figure out how to customize this.

Thanks for your help!

Hi There,

Did you install the quickstart file or the standalone template?

Is the site on a live host? If so can you add a link

Thanks

Hello Paul:

First I uploaded the JB_Gazetta_J3+_v1.0.1.zip, set the template as default. After your reply, I uploaded the JB_Gazetta_Quickstart_J343_v1.0.zip file, set it as default. Seeing same results.

Should I have uploaded the other zips like the mods and menus as well?

The site address is www.vanquishsecurity.net/blog/

Not sure if the htaccess file matters, as I have a landing index.html as www.vanquishsecurity.net/. Then I installed a Joomla instance as www.vanquishsecurity.net/blog/.

Thanks!

I also read the FAQ about

One of the benefits of Joomla is its flexibility and that means that many of the features that you see on the demo sites is achieved using separately installed Joomla modules. So if you are not able to use the quickstart packages then you need to install the template and extra extensions independantly via the Joomla installer.

So I use siteground hosting, and did auto install for Joomla. So I need to upload the standard template again, then the extensions?

Hi Justin,

Having an index.html will be a problem it commonly breaks parts of the admin

At the moment there are 404 files to load the template files

So you are saying the template is expecting the public root folder Joomla install? I can't run Joomla instance in /blog directory?

I am not understanding your second response. There are 404 files to load the temp files?

sorry 2am here and that was a slightly incoherent response from me

Currently I see the template styles showing as a 404 in the web browser console window

Do you have an index.html in the blog folder?

Regarding your other question

For the site you need to install all the

Gazetta Associated Extensions

www.joomlabamboo.com/downloads/template-downloads?param=gazetta

You have the template installed although non functional at the moment so you don't need to install that again

Attached is a screenshot of the /blog/ folder where the instance of Joomla is installed. I will upload all the mods. I deleted the Quickstart ZIP and reuploaded the standard template.

When I upload JB_pkg_mod_zentools2_3+_2.3.3.zip I get

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '[' in /home/<username>/public_html/blog/tmp/install_5875a8e932aa0/packages/plg_ajax_zentools2/installer.script.php on line 20

Last Edit: 7 years 3 months ago by Justin.
The administrator has disabled public write access.
Just put a Joomla install on the root Public folder instead of a folder, and got the same results when I switch to the Joomla Bamboo.

Is it really this difficult to install? Never had a problem back in the day install vBulletin forums and templates on webhosting accounts.

Now I guess I am out off $45.

Not normally this difficult to install especially siteground

First thing I notice is the php version it needs upgraded try 5.6

Many extension providers don't support 5.3.as 5.3. has been end of live for a long time

Try upgrading the php version

Upgraded to PHP 5.6 for the /blog/ directory. Still seeing the Author Login at the home page. But when uploading the JB_pkg_mod_zentools2_3+_2.3.3.zip I did NOT get the parsing error on line 20 problem.

Anything else I can do to troubleshoot? Can a debug be turned on? Maybe I can create a temp Joomla account via a ticket and let you take a look?

If I go into Global Config, and turn on "Site Down for Maintenance", it shows the site name, message, and login form just fine as it should.

Maybe the devs can load a Joomla 3.6.5 version and try the templates like Gazetta template and see if it's the same issues.
