Remove the separators from filtered grid menu

Hi

I am using zentools filtered grid on a number of pages.

I would like to change the text navigation bar:

* Remove the separators (ie forward slash) from the menu
* Colour & weight of hover and active

How do I put these changes into my custom.css (rather than a css created by the module?)
