Display of main menu phone (offcanvas) vs. full screen (main menu)

zentoolsIf you use Zentools please post a review at the Joomla! Extensions Directory.

Hello,

I am having difficulty with main menu child menus displaying in the full screen meun vs. the phone off canvas zen accordion menu.

For the phone, in order to NOT have the off screen child menus open and display all the sub-child menus of that child I needed to set that particular child menus Zen Menu Multiple columns item to 1 in the Main Menu settings. Selecting 2 or more will make all that sub-childrens children open at the same time. That's all good and it will work as I intend.

BUT, when I set the Multiple columns to 1 in the full screen menu all the top level children show up as one big column. I want each top level child to display as 2,3, or 4 columns as needed across the page and not down the page.

Go to staging3.4qf.org/ in full screen. You will see how the menu items Mission and Attending present children down the page. Now go to Values. You will see how the children go across the page. Across the page is what I want.

Go to staging3.4qf.org/ in phone. You will see the side menu for Mission and Attending show only the top level children. I you click Values or Communication you will see how all the sub-children are displayed. I want the menu items to look like Mission and Attending.

I can not get both menus to work as I like. The settings I want are mutually exclusive to one another.

I have played with the various settings in the template settings as well. Am I missing some setting somewhere?

The menus seems to work OK on the Responsive2 demo on your site.

Thanks

Hi

Do you have a localhost set up as it might be easier to compare settings that way?

This is how I troubleshoot some user questions

Hello,

what would you like to see in at localhost? i can install anything at my site. i can make a copy of staging2.4qf.org or a clean new install of responsive2 or whatever you need.

i tried earlier today, before contacting you, putting up a new clean install of responsive 2. just downloaded today. i had hoped to make some comparisons too. however the quickstart download it is not configured the same as responsive2 is on your website. the menu children menus are different.

i have the clean responsive2 installed at yogacast.com . if you look at the phone you will see that in JoomlaBamboo online version clicking Features in the menu lists the child menus nice and clean, one level. However in the install I have at yogacast.com downloaded today, clicking on Features brings out ALL the sub children as well.

Let me know what you need and I will set it up.

Thanks

So with your site the accordion doesn't work if you match the menu options of the demo site?

At the moment they are all expanded?

Hello,

Even though the live demo at JoomlaBamboo is working like I would like, I can not see all the options of the online demo site to set my local site like that. I can not see the Joomla admin where the settings are in the live demo at JoomlaBamboo.

I have access to the admin for the new site I made today. But why try to match those settings of the new downloaded site I have put up at yogacast.com to my build site? That site is not working like the live demo at JoomlaBamboo. It works like my build site at staging2.4qf.org.

At the moment the site at staging2.4qf.org has Mission and Attending set at 1 column and in the full screen view the menus show a 1 column and in the phone view the child menus are good. But Values and Communication are set for 3 or 4 columns and in full view the menus look good but on a phone all the childs are open.

When changing the column value I can make the full view ok but then the phone view is not good. Or if I make the full view 1 column then the phone view is not good.

Hi,

Can you please open a ticket so we can take a look at your settings.

At the moment I see the mission menu item set to one column in the code and the values menu item set to 4 columns.

To make mission and attending display the same as the values menu item you would need to make the settings the same.

Regards,

Rob

Rob, I can open a ticket.
But first brief explanation.

However I have the settings that way to demonstrate the effect those settings have on both the main menu and how the settings effect the offcanvas main menu in mobile views at the same time.

I need the setting set to more than 1 so the main menu on full screen displays the child menus for each top menu across the screen. However, when I set the setting to more than 1 that displays all the child menus and the associated subchildres as open in the mobile offcanvas.

I need to display in full screen with children menu across and not down the page. AND. I need for the offcanvas menu in mobile view to NOT open all the menus.

The site needs to work the way the Reposive2 live demo does on the Joomla Bamboo site. I have a clean install of Repsonsive2 downloaded yesterday and it does not display in the same way.

I can not figure out how Responsive2 on the demo site is different such that the main menu has the children across and the children in the offcavas are all closed until you click to open them.

Thanks.
