slideshow

zentoolsIf you use Zentools please post a review at the Joomla! Extensions Directory.

Hi,

I installed zentools2. I also installed (locally) your quickstart along with sample data. I went through the zentools slideshow module settings.
1. I don't see where are the images/captions actually assigned
2. the position of the module is [slideshow], which is not a part of any of the (Responsive) template; I'm not sure how would that work

Thanks and sorry for silly questions

Hi

1. Where is the content for the slideshow coming from? articles or folders?

2. Not entirely sure what you mean - you would assign the module to a position in the template or alternatively use the loadposition plugin to load the module in an article

Cheers
Paul

Let's say it's images... from a folder. I didn't find a place where you tell the slideshow what images and where from it should take them.

Same for articles.

What is loadposition plugin?

Thanks

/*not criticizing by no means. The ZenTools are well showcased and obviously very powerful and flexible. It is not clear/obvious (to me) how to use them.*/

loadposition is a core joomla plugin - it enables modules to be loaded in articles and other modules

For a folder

For example a slideshow (in options tab)

Select a layout - slideshow (options tab)

Select a content source - Images (options tab)

Select a folder (content tab) Choose a folder

I've not included all the option just a quick overview of loading via a folder

Cheers

For Articles

For example a slideshow

Select a layout - slideshow (options tab)

Select a content source - Joomla (options tab)

Item layout - Select the content to display from the articles

Select either categories or articles (content tab) that will be displayed

Hi there,
The content for zentools2 can be found under the content tab int he module admin.
So if you have chosen the images option then clicking on the content tab will display the folders within your images folder on your website and so you can choose which folder to reference the images from there.

I wrote this for Joomla 1.5 but it's the same for Joomla 3 - www.joomlabamboo.com/blog/tutorials/using-the-loadposition-plugin-to-load-joomla-content

Thanks

That's okay, Paul. Thank you for your patience.

I got the slideshow going (yay). Next question <G> - captions?
The tutorial I read is for the zentools v1 wherein the captions are pulled from file names. Is it the same in v2? And, how would you make image captions multilingual?

Thanks a lot

I also wanted to ask you for a tip on modifying the layout/css. If you open
Image2.png
you will notice there's a lot of empty space between the logo and the menu. I disabled layout items between them but, as I suspected, that didn't give me the space back.
In general, there's a lot of (wasted) space. I know I could open the css file and mess with it but... any tips on what exactly I should be looking for?

Thanks!!

Hi there,

You can reduce some of the space by setting the item padding and item gutter in the zentools theme settings to 0.

You would then need to recreate the master css file.
Does that do what you need?
Thanks

Probably. I'm just afraid to screw something up :)
Do you know which css file(s) I should start with?
Thanks

I meant you can do it in the theme tab in the extension - zentools2.joomlabamboo.com/installation/module-overview
