Documentation/baffled

Hi,

I am *not* a joomla expert. I expected that I'll run into problems. However, I also expected that your package would include a reasonable amount of documentation to help lay out the site modules etc. But that's not the case. Except for Adding Your Logo, other elements are just screenshots of configuration.

I started building my site with a PixelDot template but then decided I needed something more flexible. Enter Responsive 2 template. At the first look it seemed clear but when I started migrating module positions from PixelDot to Responsive 2, nothing is in the right place and some modules don't show at all.
I'm obviously doing something wrong. Do you guys have a sample website already done with Responsive 2 on Joomal 3.4 that I can logon to and see how it's really done?

Thanks a lot!!

Hi

I'd suggest download and installing the quickstart version of the responsive2 template to a localhost or some temporary live disk space

A quickstart contains the demo site

Cheers

For example, I'm trying to add Language Switcher to the [menu]. Instead of showing up inline with the rest of the menu items, it shows above the menu.
In top3 and top4 positions it doesn't show at all.

Ah, OK, I'll give it shot. Thanks a lot.

Q: for [panel], is it possible to have multiple Open buttons with each opening a different page?

Can I also upload it to my hosting provider? Sorry for stupid questions... as I said, joomla isn't my cup of tea

Hi there,

Yes sure here is a doc:
docs.joomlabamboo.com/getting-started/how-to-install-a-joomla-3-quickstart-package

In terms of the modules not publishing to a specific position you need to make sure its enabled in the template's layout panel. In our framework it is possible to enable or disable module positions inside the template settings.
Let us know how you get on.

I (re)enabled all positions in the layout. Still the same thing.

As for the QuickStart, I installed it locally with wamp. I don't see the sample site in there. One menu item, 3 modules, no articles. Am I missing something?

Thanks

Sounds like the sample data did not get installed.

When you went through the installation process for the quickstart, you needs to check the radio button for sample data. This will then populate the database with all the sample content, modules and images.

I hope that helps
