menus

Hi Paul - I have a big understanding gap when it comes to menus.

I don't understand what an accordion menu is.

And when I create a new menu, I'm looking for a control panel where I could specify what kind of menu it might be, accordion or otherwise.

Although, I don't understand the different kinds of menu anyway.

Is there an idiot's guide for me somewhere on Joomla Bamboo?

Thanks

Ian

I'm looking at www.bizzybounce.co.uk/newsite/index.php

The client has changed his mind about everything, and now wants a menu in sidebar-1. I found the features menu in the template.

I hope you are charging him for the extra work

With the accordion the toggle link isn't clickable as a link (e.g. doesn't load a new page it just triggers the drop down) and can only have 1 level item coming off the link

OK - understood. And thanks for getting back to me.

But if I create a new menu, where do i specify it's an accordion menu - or any other type?

And what types are there, and where can I see them?

Sorry Paul, in really slow mode after a long day…

Thanks again

Hi Ian,

Is this to replace the horizontal menu? e.g. replacing the main menu?

Hi Paul - thanks for getting back to me.

No, it's in addition to the main menu.

He wants all his products along the top in the main menu, and the boring bits like t's and c's down the side. That way on mobile devices the products will appear in the little horizontal bar mobile menu icon, with the boring stuff at the bottom, if you see what I mean.

Makes sense, actually.

My problem is that I can't see how to specify a menu type.

Currently it's an accordion menu in the sidebar - I really want to change it to a plain ordinary one like the horizontal menu at the top…

Thanks again

Hi Ian,

To remove the accordion menu functionality you need to remove "accordion" from the module class

Ah - thanks Paul. Can you point me to the list of classes please? I never seem able to find it...

Hi Ian,

You shouldn't need a class just remove the "accordion" that is currently added

OK - that's fine. But are there other menu classes I could use?

And I've been looking for a list of all classes I can use, not just for menus, but the only link I've found is one from Anthony which returns a 404…

Thanks

Hi Ian,

There aren't any specific to modules other than accordion

The generic module classes are

Ah - thanks Paul. That's where it is :-)

That's really useful - I've bookmarked it so I don't lose it.
