Have you tried troubleshooting with turning off modules and plugins that are working on this page?

Also tried switching to a default joomla template?

Doesn't work on Prostar with no other modules.

So it is not template related... Got any ideas?

I'd be turning off plugins and modules I'm afraid

My prime suspect would be modules / plugins near it and the trip advisor one

The search works with a menu link to the search page. But the search module doesn't work in any J3.x site I have. Smart search works fine though.

Does it matter what position?

I get the bottom one working when I click on the search button and click enter. Are you seeing that as well now?

Yes, the bottom one is Smart Search. But my events extension uses regular search so I was trying to get the top one working. I will rename to avoid confusion.

Did the normal search work when smart search wasn't enabled?

Or has it ever worked?

In extension manager, I have disabled the opposite search for each and tested. Made no difference.

As far as I can remember the regular search used to work... but I can't swear to that.

Are the search plugins enabled?

Yeth. Search works on it's own page, just the module doesn't respond to clicking the search button/icon or keyboarding "return".
