Best way to update template

zentoolsIf you use Zentools please post a review at the Joomla! Extensions Directory.

Hello,

We would like to update venture to the latest version. At the moment we have the website on a local bitnami instance, and are planning to akeeba them to our host when updated.

What is the best way to update?

We tried to import the latest version of the template with the manager, that went oke, but saving or changes within the new template are not working (save and save and close button's won't react).

Maybe there is a better way to update the template, please let us know.

Thank you!

Hi

Can I just check you tried updated via the Joomla installer?

Regarding "but saving or changes within the new template are not working " - does it try and save and nothing happen?

Cheers

Dear Paul,

We did not update via the Joomla installer. When I check the joomla update manager in the old website they is no update available for venture. Therefore we just installed the latest version with extension manager.

Hi There :)

Sorry for the confusion that is what I meant - that is the recommended way (having taken a backup first)

You still have the problem with the inability to change the template settings?

No we fixed that, we can now save the template. But we cannot change the font, see attachment.
And also the sidebar module does not have the style it had at our previous demo site. See attachment for that as well.

I see this as the font family

GillSans, Calibri, Trebuchet, arial sans-serif

should it be different than this?

Yes that is the correct font, only it looked different on the test environment. It should look the same als the demo site.

The demo site has p tags inside the blockquote - not sure how difference that will make however to actual font other than the size

e.g.

blockquote p {
font-size: 125%;
line-height: 125%;
}

This is the demo site, we used the demo content version, and on the localhost is looked exactly the same, but after transferring it not anymore. Also the template settings had all changed, very strange.

Not sure really why the settings would change without being able to see the other site you initially built

Are you able to still change any settings in the moved version?

Yes we changed them all to match the old localhost version.
But we cannot find where the settings have changed for the sidebar2 modules and the font

Are the changes only affecting the font weight?

Have you tried changing that in the browser using the Chrome developer tools to see how it looks??

Yes we tried that, and that works.
Only we cannot find the actual code in the files were we can permanently change it. In which file is the font situated?
We know we are looking for navwrap li a "open sans" in stead of "gil sans". In the backend it is ok, but in the code it is not.

Also we only find this for the font and not for the sidebar problem.

Hi

You can only change the fonts using the template settings or manually overriding them using custom.css

this is what I see now applying on ronima.nl/~noraleigh/

#navwrap li a, #navwrap li .zen-menu-heading, #navwrap li .zen-menu-caption {
font-family: 'Open Sans';
}

can I just check does your server have caching on? e.g I know Siteground has caching on by default

Hay,

I installed the template on a clean host. When I updated the template again my font of the navbar and my picture layout is different.

I'am not sure where to look, because there are alot of css files.

My test website (which is good) template version 1.3.0
ronima.nl/~trendytest/

The same website with the updated template 1.3.3
ronima.nl/~noraleigh/

Where does the change in menu font and the picture come from?

Regards,
Linda

Hi Linda,

looking at compared to the other its oddly missing some html which means styling isn't being applied on the module

Are you still able to compile the site that isn't working correctly?
