I want the default background colour for the site to be black. I've tried changing the template theme body background to 000000 but as you can see on scarlettbutterfly.branchoutwebsites.com it's not changed.

Or are you referring to the border?

if so its this line

#grid1wrap, #grid2wrap, #grid3wrap, #grid4wrap, #grid5wrap, #grid6wrap, #bottomwrap, #mainWrap {
border-top: 10px solid #fff;}
