Rasa2 - Internal Server Error

zentoolsIf you use Zentools please post a review at the Joomla! Extensions Directory.

I just made a stupid rookie error, and clicked the upgrade button to Joomla 3.4 button, and I've broken my web site. I'm getting an Internal Server Error on the frontend.

www.philosophersmag.com

I'm using the Rasa 2 template.

Thing is, if I switch to either of the Default templates - Beez3 or Protostar - the error goes away (though obviously there's no content on the site, because the modules are different, etc).

I've tried unpublishing the modules, while using Rasa2, but I still get the error.

Is it possible Rasa2 is in some way incompatible with Joomla 3.4?

I realise this is entirely my fault, of course, and I won't be making the same mistake again!

Thanks.

Best,

Jeremy

Hi Jeremy,

I just tested the quickstart package here and it seems fine. Got any other extensions - either module or plugin that you can disable? It may be that Rasa2 shows the issue because the module is shown in that template and not others.
Thanks

Hi

Thanks for your quick reply.

I've tried disabling all modules and any plugins used by the template, but it doesn't help.

It's possible it has something to do with IIS and folder permissions, I guess.

I suspect I'm going to need to rebuild it from scratch. :(

(I backed up before I updated using Akeeba, but I can't access Akeeba, it also gives an Internal Server Error).

I've learned my lesson!

Best,

Jeremy

Hi Jeremy,

Akeeba will add the backup so its accessible via ftp - can you try downloading it via that way?

Thanks Paul. I've found it, and downloaded it.

So the plan is to reinstall Joomla, and then attempt to rebuild it using the back up. Gulp!

Thanks again.

With Akeeba you shouldn't need to reinstall Joomla you may need to create a new database depending on your hosting setup

Thanks Paul!

I've managed to reconstruct my site, shifting it from a Windows to Linux server (just figured that IIS introduced too many variables for troubleshooting, etc).

Not sure if you're interested, but Rasa2 is generating this warning:

Warning: Division by zero in /home/philos23/public_html/templates/rasa2/tpls/blocks/spotlight.php on line 56

Thanks again.

Is that with the latest template version?

Using Linux is best - you've made the right move and is also normally cheaper to host

I updated the template to the latest version, and the error disappeared.

The experience on Linux is completely different. Everything is much snappier. I use a Windows server because I develop using ASP.NET. I thought I might get away with running a Joomla site using Windows + IIS. But no, it's not worth the hassle!

Thanks for all your help. I'm now successfully running 3.4 with the latest version of your template. :)

Cool

Thanks for posting back about IIS I'll pass on the info :)

We no longer offer a quickstart express service for windows because of problems like these

Linux is so much better for Joomla
