Image size in article- Newstream2

zentoolsIf you use Zentools please post a review at the Joomla! Extensions Directory.

Hi,
How can I change the size of the images that are in a joomla article?
They are too large (displayed for the whole page) and even if I change the size using the editor, even if I see the picture small into the article editor, in fact they don't change the size because they are large in the page.
What I have to do? Which value I have to edit? Should I edit something in the zentool component? If yes, which is the exact field?
Of course I would like to manage and customize freely the images as usually this could be made in joomla article.

Thank you!

Hi

You are working with normal images being added to Joomla articles and not adding images using the zentools module - is that correct?

Exactly! Why they act so strangely??

I use zentool only for the slideshow.

Hi there,

Zentools gives you lots of control over image sizes - can you post a link to where they are misbehaving so we can see what's happening?

Thanks

Of course!
In the image attached you can see what I see into the editor.

But this is the result:

Ah ok yes.

I think the rule we have there is way too general. It should only be applied to the item image but it affects all article images.

In your custom.css file add the following:

#mainWrap article img {width:auto}

That should fix it for you.
Thanks

Hi Anthony,
your advice was good.
The image is smaller, but I still don't have any control on it. It is just smaller...

Any other idea? I need to fix this soon. Thank you!

Hmm ok.

Ive just looked at my local copy and I cant see the offending item in the less but it is in the css. If you go to to this file:

www.littleitalyplanet.it/parco/templates/newstream2/css/template.css

then remove:

article img {width:100%}

It will fix it. However if you compile less to css it will likely get overwritten again.

Ill hunt it down tomorrow and release the update anyway.
Thanks

The following user(s) said Thank You: Ablandi
I removed article img {width:100%} from the template.css
but I also had to remove #mainWrap article img {width:auto} from custom.css.

Finally it works!

But I don't want that anything could be overwritten because the website should be ready in few days.
So please, can you write the solution when you found it? It is important.
Thank you very much for you help!

This is a little bit off topic but I'd suggest optimising the image file sizes as they are very big

one image is over 3mb in size

I'd suggest where possible cropping them to a smaller size both dimensions and the actual file size

once cropped perhaps check out this article

Thank you Paul, you're right. Some images are too big. But this doesn't change the fact that I cannot control the image as usually happens in joomla article. I want to be free to customise them
