Stop Image Scaling

zentoolsIf you use Zentools please post a review at the Joomla! Extensions Directory.

Most of my images have been scaled to a common size.
In this template they are resized larger (one example from 200 x 200 to 216 x 316)
Not a good look as the images are now pixelated and way oversize on a desktop.

Especially when looking at board member page with 16 peoples photos.
The emphasis is now on the photo not the information under it.

Can't seem to find where to switch that off.
Thanks

Hi Andrew,

Responsive imagery is an odd issue - has lots of foibles

Images need to be bigger on mobile devices and tablets in many situations

With image handling its part of a responsive template but if its zentools you do have control over some options

Do you have a link for the page?

Cheers

As usual one is localhost

Here's what I'd like to appear
The image is what I have but don't want, and I can imagine neither do the rest of the Board

The images attributes are 200px × 200px (scaled to 325px × 325px) and that shot if from my 13" Macbook, hate to see it on my desktop

As I'm typing is there a better way of laying out such a page to present something like the link? I do realise that layout doesn't handle flexible layouts, actually it's garbage. But on that page in specific it would be great to keep images at a set 200px x 200px

Would ZenGrid be a better option?
Thanks

With images you can normally get away with enlarging them by 100% in photoshop but some of images are a little blurry already so don't think that is an option

You could try using a zentools grid layout with no responsive options enabled - that would mean the image is above the text being full width and the image holding its size

Your input is most appreciative.
Didn't expect support this weekend, figured I'd post while I knew the problem clearly.

Time for some testing

Ok so this is a big fail
Tried Zen Grid.
Tried <div class="span3"> etc

For images to work in this format I need to increase the file sizes by 3 times.
For me this totally defeats the concept of site speed, especially on mobile devices.

Using my latest iPad (retna quality) unless the above happens, the images look absolute garbage.
I don't see why those images need to be enlarged for tablets.
Just so they go full width?
Why not the original size and centered, prior to smartphone size?
</rant> :)

So can I turn off/modify that resizing for images in content anywhere?
Or are there any other alternatives?

Hi

Are we talking zentools here or JB Type?

I'm using Newstream2 on my localhost and can't put that online to show you as my host stuffed an account upgrade and my server space is over full.

I tried Zentools Grid
And then <div class="span3">blah blah </div>
Unsure as to how I could use JB Type to achieve something similar?????

The images I am having issues with are those that I've been testing here

Any image crunched for 200px × 200px and then scaled up to 740px × 740px is gonna look pretty ordinary.

So where I've got to, and probably totally wrong is that those head shot images are needing to be 750 x 750 to begin with and when placed in the content I have them resized to 200 x 200. If so I'll need to get a new set of photos taken to go into the system.

My logic may be flawed and if so please put me out of my misery
Thanks for your patience and perseverance Paul.

Did you turn off image resize and the responsive image setting section in the zentools settings?

That's what I was thinking of

All resizing and responsive switched off.

Paul I'm thinking I'll leave this be until we can get the install online
