Zentools Category/Tag Filter no longer working

zentoolsIf you use Zentools please post a review at the Joomla! Extensions Directory.

Hi There : )

I use a zentools module on the homepage of this site and I had it configured to filter via a category and then via tags. It worked until I updated T3 (not sure if this is connected...).

blackheathphysiopilates.com/

My configuration is a category 'Our team' and then tags for each role. I have some team members who perform two roles thus my need for tags as you cannot assign 2 categories in JOOMLA (or at least you couldn't).

As I said my configuration used to work even though I can clearly see that there could be a problem because the option is active category not active tag.

Do you have any thoughts on how this could be?

Thanks so much : )

Hi Julia,

What is the T3 plugin version that you have installed?

Hi J

Can you make sure you have backup

Can you downgrade the plugin version to the version on the template download page

And then compile the less to css

Hi Paul,

I installed T3 2.4.1 then compiled less to css for the template I am using…no change for my zen tools filter problem.

I also tried to update to Joomla 3.5 and had another zentools problem…see screen shot

Hmmm…

Thanks Paul :)

It was set to maximum. Know I think of it I changed that when trying to make sense of another problem I was having with this site.

I have re-set it today to 'none'.

1- Can you give me a bit of info about how this relates to that display within the zentools module I was getting when I upgraded to JOOMLA 3.5? Now I have the error reporting set to none will it display properly?

2- Also I am still unsure as to why I can't use the zentools filter properly on this site. I have changed the layout in the meantime so it makes more sense to users but I would like to be able to filter the tags within the 'my team' category the way I used to -without just showing the 'show all button as I have done now as the lazy option. The active category works (ie- is highlighted) but the content isn't filtered...

3- Also is the converting LESS to CSS something that needs to be done before upgrading template relating stuff like T3...If you could also explain this to me that would be awesome : )

Sorry to bombard you! I learn so much everday! :pinch:

Hi Julia,

The error reporting was for the notices you were seeing - with error reporting set to max it will show everything

Max is a great way of troubleshooting especially if you have an entirely white screen but you are right error reporting is best set to none on live sites

With

I wouldn't ever update any T3 plugin version available via the download page.

If you update a T3 template or T3 plugin you would most likely need to re-compile

It's so any new styling can be applied to the template its converting LESS to CSS code - LESS code has to be converted to CSS for it to display e.g. compiled

if you have css optimisation enabled you would need to turn that off and save and then on again.

So the new styling can be applied rather than the previous compressed / optimised styling

Is there a way you can set up the filter module on a different page so we take a look?

I appreciate its a live site and there is a difference in time zones for when I view it - perhaps create a page hidden away somewhere using a hidden menu

Thanks for all the info Paul : )

I will set up a test page as soon as I can next week-

Also with the error reporting- now I have it set to none presumably that zentools module will just display correctly? Are the error messages relating to fields that I haven't filled in via the zentools module?

Hi Paul,

It's okay I can show you on the site- As you can see the active category is activated by colour but beyond that the filter is selecting the team members I have tagged...

Sorry let me clarify- the filter does work but not when the homepage loads- all the tagged team members display when the site loads then when you start clicking the tag buttons the filters kick in...
