I want to use the off-canvas effect for the menu on small screens. I cannot get it to work.

what did I try:

In the template manager, I have the off-canvas effect on and customized.
I published a menu module to the off-canvas position. It does not seem to be there, so I typed it in manually as suggested in other threads in the base3 forum.

I assigned the position under templates-layouts following the T3 framework docs (t3-framework.org/documentation/menu-system.html#off-canvas).

It has been assigned to the very last position, but this one I cannot turn on/off with the eye symbol based on screen size in the size selection menu.

And I do not see the off-canvas on the site.

What am I missing?

Can I confirm what you are trying to do - is it a bog standard menu you are assigning to the off canvas position?

And not the main menu?

I did both - a normal and a main menu.

Have a guess in the meantime: Is the off-canvas position in base3 absolute? Meaning it will always be on the right at the height of the menu bar - despite turning left on in the template manager?

If so, what would happen if assigend to abovecontent in the template manager?

Code needs to be added to off-canvas block under tpls/blocks/off-canvas.php

together with editing tpls/block/nav.php
