Hello Team JB,
Well, I feel like I've been doing so many OTHER webmaster tasks (SEO, site maps, hosting, webmaster tools, actual programming) that I have forgotten the basics!

I am using New Lifestyle. I have a News tab on the front page. When an article in the Press Release category is clicked on, the user is taken to the full article on a different page.

I made a copy of the News module and renamed it Trending. I created articles and assigned them to the Trending category. When I click on these articles from the home page tab, the article does not open.... :(

I assign my new articles to News, and they behave as expected. I reassign them to Trending, and nothing. I don't understand: I copied the News module and only changed the category.

Help??
Thanks in advance

Correction: I assign my new articles to the Press Release category (not News)

Is Press Release some kind of special category?

Have you made sure there is a link on the system so it knows the page to go to?

I copied the News tab exactly, and the items in the categaory Press Release all show up without any special treatment. In fact, when I change my new articles to be in the category Press Release, they show up just fine, too. I link on them from the News tab on the home page.

All I have done is make a copy of the zentools News module, rename it to Trending, and change the category to Trending.

Is there perhaps something special in Joomla about the Press Release category?

When I hover over an article in the Trending category, the url says..index.php/44-trending/112-name-of-the-article

Hi Patricia,
Yes this is the way Joomla handles menu items and which page to display. If you follow the instructions ont he link above it should solve the issue for you.
Thankls

I just fixed the problem using the invisible menu as the article describes. I just don't understand why that wasn't necessary with the original tab News with the category of Press Release....

With the original content I'd expect there to be a link somewhere so there wasn't an issue - it can be a category link as well individual articles

Good luck with the site
