Which version of bootstrap is used in this template? I ask because class "hide" does not work on icons:

How can I know for sure?

Why is bootstrap not included purely so it is easily updatable? Or do I miss something?

thx

Sorry not sure why I add "I think" on the end there

A developer can probably answer the second part better than me but that was the current version of release and support in the framework at that time

Different versions of boostrap have slightly different breakpoints for example

For a more in depth answer I would need to ask a developer :)

Can I just check why you need to upgrade?

... because I need the new bs components and JS from 3.0 for my modules and template customisation.

Hi there,

Our templates from Base3 on use bootstrap 3 while the themes before then including New Lifestyle use bootstrap 2.

Joomla by default ships with bootstrap 2 and so the T3 Bootstrap 3 themes add some extra overhead in being able to work with Bootstrap 2 and 3. They add a legacy file.

I'd suggest using a bs3 based theme if thats the case - eg lifestyle2, newstream2, base3 etc.

It's not going to be so easy to move the other way.

In regards to why not just make it possible to drop any bs library into the theme this is how zen grid framework 4 will work. It's been a massive amount of work to get it to work like this to be honest and it's not something thats going to be possible with Bootstrap2 theme based on T3 unless we update it to Zen Grid Framework 4.

Thanks

Thanks for the insight. But that brings up some concerns. What is your update policy? I need to be sure that when Joomla at some point ships with BS3, then 4, I do not have to switch templates. How long will you update your templates to work with the latest Joomla?

Any plans when "New Lifestyle" will get updated to Zen Grid Framework 4?

Thanks

Hi there,

As far as I know BS2 will be in the Joomla3+ series. Joomla 4 which hasn't started to be developed yet is likely to have some other framework. It may be BS3, 4 5 perhaps - but it's all undecided.

There are a few threads regarding this on the Joomla developer mailing list that you could check out.

groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/joomla-dev-general

So we will do our best to make our themes future proof and compatible with future iterations but there is always a lag between new releases and getting all themes up to date. We still aren't there with Joomla 3.

Since ZGF4 is bootstrap agnostic it will be alot easier to achieve this - thats my hope anyway.

But as far as our current BS2 themes and core Joomla or BS2 extensions there should be no problem.
Hope that helps.
Anthony
