New Lifestyle:Publishing modules into Tabs position

zentoolsIf you use Zentools please post a review at the Joomla! Extensions Directory.

Hello,
I am trying to publish 3 modules into the tabs position on the frontpage. I have changed the template to have 3 modules instead of four. When I publish, the same item is repeated in all three postions, and when I publish a second module, the modules stack instead of go side by side, and they fill three positions each. I cannot seem to number the tabs...
Thanks,

Do you have a live link for the site?

Thanks

The site is being developed on localhost at the moment. My template manager shows the tabs block, but the bits are all called "tabs"; not tab1, tab2, tab3, etc. I believe that to publish into the position to create my tabbed area I need different tabs.... Is why I am seeing repeating items as described in my last post...?

If you change the tab position in module positions to 1 position only does that work?

Ok, I've tried that. I have added two modules into the position, but they stack instead of showing side by side.

I am trying to emulate the use of the tab container on the New Lifestyle homepage. I've read the existing docs (don't even say to use a tabbed container - I see that in Inspect Element). Do you have any tutorials for this kind of thing?

Thanks!!

Hi Paul,
I have not created a ticket because I am working on localhost - will do so it you still want me to.
The template docs on your website say:
"The tabbed module style is a group of modules assigned to the same position and given the zentabs module style in the module settings. The tab triggers are populated by the module title and the tab content is the actual module content." Where exactly do I find / how do I assign the zentabs module style? In the Zen Tools module, under General, I do not see an option to create a tab module style. Am I missing something?

Nevermind, Paul, I found the setting required: I can now create my tabbed container.

Ok

There are three types of tabs -

1. template tabs published to the position tabs
2. Zentools using a tab based layout
3. Module chrome styling which is applied via the advanced tab of the module settings > module style

These all work and display differently

The template home page uses 1.

Module Chrome is modules published as you describe

Ok - I found the module chrome setting.. I do not understand how to use a template tab or a zentools tab based layout.. would love to know how, though!

The template tab is a position so a module published to the front page in the tabs position should display as a text tab

This is the method I would really like to get to work: the module tabs (set using the Advanced Settings) display actual tabs on the front page: I prefer the "menu" - or text - look. But my modules just stack instead of overlay each other as in the demo.
I will put my site up in the next day or two and mention this again at that time...
thanks.

Its not intended to work with the Module Chrome styling

With the Tabs templat positions have you edited template files as I only see one tabs position in the layout not 3
