Zentools showing duplicate and multiple categories instead of one.

zentoolsIf you use Zentools please post a review at the Joomla! Extensions Directory.

Hi folks. In one of the sliding tab positions I am trying to get Zentools (using the grid setup) to show 6 categories (3 columns, 2 rows) so that people can click the category and it will take them to articles in that category.

Right now, for one and sometimes two of the categories it shows duplicate or up to three of the same category name. Any ideas why it's bowing more than one instance of a category when I only have one listed in my categories section of Joomla?

When I test the category links they don't work. It just takes me to a page that looks like my home page but not a category layout.

Hi

Do you have a link?

As zentools doesn't currently load the category page it loads the articles in that category

With the home page reloading it sounds like there isn't a valid menu link on the system

For the page reloading - you can find more information here

When I've needed to use zentools for this I've used articles to take the place of the category content and then used the Link A option to redirect to actual category page.

If this is of more interest I can elaborate with a brief tutorial?

Here's the link below - select the "Test" button. I've still been tinkering with zentools and just can't seem to get what I want.

nccfc.net/nebulaquickstart2/

I just want:
- columns of 3 or 4 categories with maybe 3 or 4 of the most recent articles beneath each category name. Category names should only appear once.
- The category should be the header of each column and clickable so that if someone want to choose the category instead of the article they can do so, which would forward them to a page with the articles in that category.

This would essentially almost be like having 3 or 4 "most recent" modules lined up as columns in the slide 3 position.

Is this even possible with Zentools?

Is using the filter an option?

As then you could filter by category

The filter only let's you choose one category to filter, unless I am using it wrong. Notice none of my links go to any page either.

Regarding the links not working - this is due to links not being on the system

You need a hidden menu pointing to the article or category
