Module Help - article content expanding grid

zentoolsIf you use Zentools please post a review at the Joomla! Extensions Directory.

Hi--and thanks in advance for your help.

Is there a way that I can put 16 very short articles in a grid, and have a More link that expands the rest of the article content either in a shadowbox or so the grid expands slightly to show the remainder of the content (preferably).

I know that I have seen this feature somewhere on the joomlabamboo demo sites, but I can't for the life of me find it.

Thanks -

Wade

Hi

Yes you set up the grid as required

e.g. drag and drop the required bits with readmore last and chose the correct content

and set the link behaviour set to lightbox

Thank you very much for the info....

2 further questions...

1--When I choose lightbox, the image does not open in a lightbox, but just in a browser tab.

2--Am I able to add text and links to pdf's into the lightbox when it opens? Do I need to create an article and have that display in the lightbox in order to make this happen?

as reference, here is the website that I'm working on:
kbawku.nationalradiotalentsystem.com/

The pictures are under Radio Talent Farm System in the slider module on the front page.

Again, thanks.

Regarding

1. where are you loading jquery latest? - can you change this to a numbered version

2. Yes you would need to create an article and have that selected in the module settings

Thanks--I'm not sure exactly what you mean by question #1...I do use the frontpage slideshow which does load jquery, and i've tried setting jquery to yes and to no on the module in questions, but it doesn't seem to make a difference. I can open a support ticket if you'd like to login and see the admin side.

i'll work through #2. thanks for that info.

I think the issue is that you are loading jQuery via the zentools module. If you disable it in all instances of the zentools module it should work because the template is already loading it.

You nailed it! Thanks (and sorry for opening the support ticket...)

I have an article associated with each image in the zentools module on the front page. Can I display the article in the lightbox when i click on the image in the front page?

Yes - if you have the settings as required with the articles and the link behaviour set up

I have the images named appropriately to link to articles, and they work properly (link to the article) if I do not have lightbox enabled in the module. When I enable lightbox, the image is the only think that displays.

Can you point me to a kb article that describes how to setup the link behavior?

thanks--

With the settings you have text selected in the drag and drop elements?

Yes, I have the following:

Image
Title
Text

I believe the filename of the image is setup properly, but I had a slight difficulty in figuring out the naming convention for the image so the link worked.

For this particular example, here is the link to the article:

kbawku.nationalradiotalentsystem.com/index.php/component/content/article/22-talent/84-andrewharilson

I've named the image the following:
Andrew+Hairilson-22-84.jpg

Could it be that I have the image name incorrect?

Thanks for your help.

Hi Wade,

I'll need to check on this as there was debate over this method and alternates

I think if it was me I would use articles instead of a directory option

I think going forward we are planning to phase out the using of id numbers and use the external link option instead as users find that easier

sorry for the delay

But for me personally I prefer to use zentools to pull content from articles and only use external linking if it can't be avoided
