How to Set Maximum Article Width? [SOLVED]

Howdy folks!

I can't wait to see what you guys come up with in 2014.

Hey, I'm looking to limit the width of articles. This is because my article pictures are a fixed width, and after that, I just get white space if the window gets wider. (Please see attached image.)

I imagine this is a maxwidth style element, of course, but where to apply?

Thanks and cheers,

Bill

PS: New forum look is great.

Hi Bill,

Problem is that white space will vary depending on the screen width
e.g. on my wide photo editing monitor its bigger width wise

You can try it with a width and see how that goes - it looks alright on this page but it may not look good on different subject matter

.left.item-image img {width:100%;}

Its an easier option to try than a max-width and media query - if it works that is :)

Cheers

I was just concerned if you have images with more space or a close up portrait it may look a bit distorted but given the alternative is a load of work thought it was worth a punt :)

happy days :)

I'm using big images, so it's perfect.

There's an awesome extension that Tony suggested a while back that uses imagemagik to do just-in-time scaling. So the big images don't slow up the home page. Your css even works perfectly with the extension. I don't know how, but it does.

Thanks again,

Bill
