Making a Blank Menu

zentoolsIf you use Zentools please post a review at the Joomla! Extensions Directory.

Hi JB Team... Happy Easter!

I am using Grid 3 for a site and I want to make a Top Menu Item be a blank with three submenus...

How is this done?

By blank you mean without clickable link?
So inside Joomla 3.0 you can use menu heading menu item type. Or in Joomla 2.5 I am using external link and as link I place #

With the recent update to grid3 styles you can also add the separator menu link type as the parent

HI Zuzuzu and Paul:

Yes, I was able to do it in 2.5. But am working in 3.0... So Paul, there is now an update for the template Grid 3, am I correct?

Thanks both!

Hi Paul:

I have never been absolutely sure on how to install the 'updates' for templates. So, if you don't mind can you advise?

Can I simply upload the latest version, or is there an update file that is separate from the latest version of the template?

The version I have installed right now is VERSION 1.0.3 - when I activate in the back end, it says I have the latest!

Hi

hmm not sure that is correct 1.0.3 wise I will have to check with a test install to see what is happening

These are the instructions we have listed

Update instructions.

If you have made no changes to your template then you should be able to install the Grid3 v1.2 package on top of your existing site. Please create an akeeba backup of your site before doing so.

If you have made changes to the theme then you will need to manually upload the files for your template as per the list of changed files.

But please make a backup first :)

And if you have a custom css file with code in I'd also take a copy of that as double insurance

Hi Paul:

Is there a LINK to the update instructions?

I made a backup using Installatron. I am presuming this is sufficient.

I haven't made any changes to the template.. Just created a HOME and DEFAULT version in the template manager.

Should be fine??

Hi Tony,

Its the changelog link for the template

If you've not changed any settings and don't mind the site being changed back to default then just re-install new downloaded template

HI Paul and Zuzuzu..

Things worked out fine... the menu is quite different and not floating anymore... it is now located across the top and in a BLACK bar!

Is this expected?

Cheers and thanks,

Yes, I see you are there...
Thanks...

I think most of my issues are close to being solved, except for the FONT changes that have happened...

Hi Zuzuzu and Paul:

Well, I got it working OK; but the font style changes when it is a non clickable menu... and unlike the demo content, there is no little indication ARROW below it...

I am attaching a screen shot for your info...

Cheers,
Tony
