Ascent template - General configuration

zentoolsIf you use Zentools please post a review at the Joomla! Extensions Directory.

Hello,

Since I'm having a hard time understanding the works of the forum, I'm posting all my questions and issues from a template on a single thread. Hopefully, this doesn't mess things up... :p

The template I'm trying to work with is Ascent.

How do I change the banners (and the text on it)? I'm having problems on having just one image on my banner (e.g. like Services). Also, how can I have a video on the banner position (like News->Video example).
??

Hi

Banners

In the quickstart its set to load a single item in a slideshow using the image, title and text drag and drop tabs

You could also use a single item gallery

With it being a directory its using the file name to split the title and text e.g.

We+offer+a+comprehensive+range-Of+services+to+suit+any+need.jpg

with the split being where the - occurs

Cheers

With the video its a custom html module loading an iframe in the banner module

I'm not 100% but I think you need to install out fitvids plugin

You will want to disable the editor to add the hrml iframe code

Any problems or queries about below please ask :)

Cheers

Hi,

I'd like to make the frame "Make an appointment" a link to the booking page!

Should this be done through its module or we need to change the css files?

Thank you

Hi,

You cannot make a link using css.

The make an appointment area is a module title, you cannot link module titles.

You need to copy the html of the page into a custom html module to replace the existing one. Turn off the title and then link your content in the custom content to your page.

Rob

Hi Robwent,

Actually it can be done!!
After a quick google search, I came up with this example:
ran.ge/2009/11/11/css-trick-turning-a-background-image-into-a-clickable-link/

Wouldn't this be much simpler, if I could edit the correct files? Or there would be any kind of confict with other css elements?

Hi,

That is not creating a link using css, it is making something a block element so that you can wrap it in a html link.

As I pointed out, it is a module and not in a file, so there is nothing to edit.

You need to copy the html of the page and then put it in to a custom html module and then wrap it in a link.

This is the simple option!

Find that custom html module and turn off the title.

In the content area add

<div class="moduleTitle">
<a href="#" alt="" >
<h3><span>Your text</span></h3>
</a>
</div>

Hi,

I've made a copy of the site I've created but there seems to be a problem when I try to put it off-line! Though I have made it offline through global configuration, it stays online.

Any ideas why this is happening??

do you mean off line using the joomla off line feature?

You could utilise tools in your hosting account to restrict access in the mean time

Yes!

The site's url is corfusegwaytours.com! Though I'm using the offline feature, it just won't go offline!

Hi,

I'm trying to make an adjustment on the template:
I need to create a category like "Projects". Everything works fine except that I need the main picture I have on each project, to be large when you open the project page...

How do I do that??

Thank you

Hi

Are you using the intro text to load the picture?

If so its a case of hiding the intro text in article options and then adding the image you want to the article

Hi,

What do you mean "intro text to load the picture"?

What I've tried is replacing the white photo of the template with the one I want to use! I tried changing it's width with the html editor but still it appears like this (the first pic, next to the text):
demo.joomlabamboo.com/index.php?theme=oct12
(Projects -> Project#1)

Do you have a link for your site?

As I'm not quite following - do you mean that zentools module is displaying a pic at a wrong size?

If so you are using the resizing options in the module to change the picture size in the module only

Thanks

www.athenssegwaytours.com

That's our site! As you can see, when clicking on each category (e.g. Special Tours) you'll see that the tours appear as we want them but the preview photo is really small... Is there a way to adjust its size?

Hi AST

you are using K2 extension for your content so you can all this define inside k2. Look inside category manager in k2, open category and on right side is accordion with setting...so check image sizes here.
