how to start "-slide" closed

zentoolsIf you use Zentools please post a review at the Joomla! Extensions Directory.

Hi, I found that "-slide" added to Modules, starts some cookie-thing. I would need (for different templates) the easy solution:

Module Slide is closed every time. If you click it, it opens.

(or if easier: starts closed every time like you had it in panel-menu to choose.)

I do not understand the js code; I tried but could not find, where to start closed. Can you help me?

Thanks, Dan

PS: I had the same question for 1.5 - that Solution doesn´t work anymore. I use Joomla 2.5 and newest zengrid and the responsive templates of last year.

Maybe I´m in the wrong - the forgotten - part of the forum...:pinch: it would be really important for me to solve this for a few client websites.

Can you let us know an I'll look into it for you.

1. Vintage
2. Intrepid
3. Corporate Lifestyle

...sorry, but the reason to use -slide is not to show the whole content - am I missing something? - it makes the layout smart, because does not show the unnecessary content at the first view?

Hi
the idea is that you have for example 3 root menu items, each containing for example 10 subitems. So this way you will see only 10 subitems instead of 20.
But in same time you can quickly go to other subitem from same group.

With your approach, when all was closed, we did receive many many posts and tickets asking how to make active item with subitems opened.

I am not able to help you with this as it is matter of JS which is not my skill, but I was just trying to explain why it is the way it is...

Right, that makes sense if its a menu. The user ofter would not find his "active item".
But -slide ist made for any module, and if the content is nothing, that can be "active", a map, some iframe, not fitting the layout ... then the only reason to use it, is to hide something partially.
So the cookie-thing is great in special cases - but for my projects its important to have the option to start closed in any case.

I already asked Anderson, dev, to take look here. He is great and for him it will be no problem to change it.

Hi Dan,

I just changed the framework to understand "-slide closed" as a initial hidden module.
If you use "-slide" it will use the last state based on a cookie stored value (default behavior), but adding a "closed" class too will forces it to loads closed. It will works on the last templates, need to check others.

Please, try this alpha version and let we know if it works well.

Thanks.

Actually Dan that will only work with Collector. We need to add that to the 2.3 series.

Ill get Anderson to post back here when its done.

Sounds good; maybe I can copy some parts of the new Framework - or is is much more complex? You had this option in the panel menu. So the functionality should be in the 2 series.

Hi
this is much more complex so better to wait for same fix also inside ZGF v2.3.x version.

Hey!

Sorry to sent the fix only for the 2.4x versions. If that version doesn't work for the templates you are using, and if you are using the 2.3.x series, could you try to replace the /media/zengridframework/js/effects/slide.js with the attached file?

Happy New Year!

Thanks.

It is not working in vintage and not in Intrepid; first I tried only to change the js, then rembered, that you said, "add closed to it", so I did that.

Attached one module (closed manually after load) and on the right side one like it appears after deleting cookies, clean cache and restart the browser.

(additional I have a js error in Intrepid about the iframe height - I think this is not related to the slide.js, but also an error in slide.js
h = document.getElementById('blockrandom').contentDocument.height;
undefined is not an object.

Hi Dan,

Apologies with the delay.
Anderson has been away for a few days but he will follow up on this.

Can you create anew thread or show us where the other threads are that relate to Masonry and fitvids?

Thanks

Hi Dan,

Sorry for delay.
About the slider, if the latest JS I sent you is not working, make sure you are setting the value "-slide closed" to the Module Class Suffix param. If it is not working for you, please, could you add a Support Ticket sending an admin access? So I can take a closer look.

About that fitvids issue, is it this one?

www.joomlabamboo.com/forum/free-templates-and-modules/80370-fitvids-not-working#80482

If yes, I think is because Zuzuzu hadn't a feedback from you since her last answer, so we could not see if you still have problem. If is the case, please, could you update that thread with your persistent issue? So we will be able to see it again.

About Masonry, Could you confirm what is the link for the thread?

Thanks, Happy new Year!

Hi,

Thank you!

Slide closed is working now!

I could not know the syntax "- slide closed"

So now I can add it to my clients websites.

I will open a new thread like suggested.

Best regards, Dan
