K2 Image in Zengrid Slider not showing properly

zentoolsIf you use Zentools please post a review at the Joomla! Extensions Directory.

Hello support team,
one question on zentools image slider and resizing, please bear with me for the long explanation.....

For better understanding of my issue,
first what I try to accomplish:

I have the zentool mainslider in the banner position of the main page.
There are 3 pictures in the slider - each with a different color box highlighted.
Depending on what picture you click you will select the same page as you would with the appropriate colored menu-button above.
example:

image-big-greenbox.jpg

This works nicely so far.
But: I need to hide the picture in the linked article - as is makes no sense there
example:
green-box-link.jpg

Now I come to my issue:
the picture wit the green-box higlighted is in the body text of the item.
So it cannot disable the picture with the image.hide attribute.

So I tried with an Image in the K2-image container, because there I can
disable the image im the linked item with image.hide .
BUT- here the issue - the K2-Image in the slider displays in a complete different size (too small) and the image resize options do not have any effect.

Example:
image-small-bluebox.jpg

My intention is obviously to have the image the same width as the menu bar.

When I click on the (small) (k2) Image the result is fine for the linked article.
Example:

blue-box-link.jpg

The original image size is 600x400 - the K2-Slider Image looks far too small.
Browser is firefox. Template is colorshift.

Sorry my site is localhosted in the moment so I cannot provide a link.

To summarize my question: Any hint why the image size in the Slider is "wrong",
when the picture is in the K2-image container rather than in the html text ??

Sorry this was so long and hope it´s understandable.
Any hints highly appreciated.
Best Regards

Bernd

HI Bernd,

Have you tried adding the image to a standard joomla article but in the Joomla content manager options setting the introtext option to "Show Intro Text" = no
(under articles tab)

You can have both text and images here which are then used by extensions but not displayed when people view the articles

Hi Paul,

thank you for your comment,
I will try if the situation is different with joomla content,
but however, I would like to avoid to mix joomla content with K2 content, so that
users do not need to search.

Should´nt the image size shown in the banner-slider be independent regardless
wether the image is enclosed in the K2-html body of the article or in the extra K2-image tab ?

And what could be the reason that in case the image is in the K2 image tab, it is displayed so small im the slider ? (see my examples above...)

Thx again for support

Bernd

Hi Bernd,

Because K2 offers it's own resize script when you add the image via that method the module gives you the option to determine the original size of the image.

So in Zentools if you set the k2 image size to original and then resize from there you should be able to achieve what you want to.

Thanks

Hi Anthony,

many thanks for your answer. I think I understand what you are saying, just I don´t know how I can achieve it.....

here is a screenshot of the K2 item itself - I cannot identify anything like "original size" setting.

k2-image-item.jpg

and here is the reference to the same item in the zentoolslider.
There I select " no resizing" (but something does resize the picture)
And nothing to select under the K2 image options.

zentool-slider-item-option.jpg

In my desperation I tried to delete all images in the imagecache and I found
two imagecache folders - is that correct ?

C:\xampp\htdocs\media\zengridframework\imagecache\
C:\xampp\htdocs\plugins\system\zengridframework\media\zengridframework\imagecache\

Thanks for your first class support - how else could a newbee like me setup an affordable but professional and good looking website.....

Kind Regards

Hi there,

You'll find the K2 image settings under the global K2 options (K2 > Options (top-right)) where you can select the image sizes K2 will use.

Hi Seth,

thanks for your comment,
but I fear It did not solve the issue.

I can state the width of the categories XS to XL there under K2 options- I set all of them to 600px - just to check, but it does not have any effect on any of my pictures - it looks like the sizing is done by the zentools - but this does for any reason not work for the main slider (or it works, but not like I would like..)
.
The K2 image is sized to something like 150px, while the other images appear in original size, which is 600px.
I am getting somewhat helpless......

Actually there should be an option to select the size of the k2 image in the zentools module. You can see int he screenshot above that it's not showing there.

Do you have the latest version of the module?

If so please create a ticket and I'll look into this for you.

Thanks Anthony

Hello support team,

glad to tell you that the issue is resolved now and I closed the ticket

The combination of all of your hints lead to the solution:

After updating to the latest zenmodule now there was a new K2 option in the slider for the image size (before it was empty) and together with the K2 preferences I can get the correct image size in the slider now.
Brilliant - thanks a lot !

Hello all,

just reopened the ticket ;-(

When I got back to the page - new effect: All pictures in main slider too large now.
(funny - some caching effect ??)
Pls look into the ticket #76645

Thanks and Regards

Hi all,

I just wanted to lead this stream to a good end and close it:

My personal conclusion is that I had a mix of some effects so that I lost control of the picture size in the main-slider:

When you have K2-items with pictures in the extra K2-picture-tab, they are treated according to the K2 preferences set - my Zentools did not realize that, as I had a very old version. => a zentools update fixed that,
but after that the responsive template made a resize and pics were too big.
this was fixed by a css snippet ( I admit I don´t understand...) in the custom .css from Zuzuzu:
.flexslider .slides img {width: auto !important;}

Thanks a lot for you patience and help
