Suggestion: Heading Fonts

zentoolsIf you use Zentools please post a review at the Joomla! Extensions Directory.

In a future build of the ZGF, can you make it so that you can select a different font for each of the heading types H1-H6? I have modified the parameters and functions for my needs, but it would be nice to have it by default. =)

Here is what I did for my current project:

I also loaded the "Extra Font Stack" so I have the option of loading an extra font for special use cases.

Ill add this to the todo list but I wonder about causing excessive load if you are using lots of external fonts - google and typekit.

I suppose we could add it as an option and just make people aware that it may cause an issue.

Thanks Anthony

Sounds good to me. I only use Google fonts for the time being, and they load quickly, much quicker than using cufon.

Yep I totally agree with you there but there is still a hit with loading multiple font families. It certainly makes sense to open it up though so thanks for the contribution :)

If it causes such a performance hit, one option you can consider is to limit it to 2-3 fonts that people select from first, and it will then load those 2-3 fonts as options into the drop-downs for the headings, navigation, etc.

Hi there,

The performance hit would be on the front-end of your site, loading all those fonts. They don't get loaded in the backend.

As it stands currently, the template loads 3 font families, max. Upping that to 9 would certainly have a penalty in terms of initial page load.

I seriously doubt anyone using Joomla Bamboo templates will be loading 9 different fonts. But like I said before, if you can modify it to let people select 3-4 different fonts max and then assign them to different headings, that would work better.

Yep its been noted and will be in a future update.

But you should never underestimate what users will do :)
